Gates would never have been able to accomplish that if he had not first perfected the technology by vaccinating Africans.

Looks like novavax booster will start to be available next week

A little pissed off right now. Went in for my 8:00 PT appointment but my therapist was busy with some other patient and didn't start with me until 8:30. I had a 9:30 covid vax appointment across town. So I got shorted at PT then went to my 9:30 appointment. They had no record of the appointment and there were a bunch of old fucks without appointments ahead of me, 1.5 hr wait.
I have shit to do so I walked out. What is the purpose of appointments again?
I tested positive today, First time I've ever tested positive. I went to a concert Tuesday night so I suspect that's where I got infected.
I put on a mask for the first time in well over a year yesterday.. At the doctor office I covered up while in a small exam room for about an hour with a tech and doctor. Tomorrow is the booster day and I didn't want to risk it at all..
Other news.. hearing more confirmation that the sweet spot for the rapid tests detecting the current soup is 4 days after onset of symptoms. Not going to even try wasting a test until day 4 of symptoms if I feel like I might have it..
Anyone in the immunocompromised category had the new vax yet? How long did you feel like shit? Trying to figure out the timing with work etc.
So I’m on day 5 since I had that sort of rough Monday afternoon/night. Had a low fever, chills, aches and congestion. However on Tuesday I woke up with the fever and aches gone. I’ve only had congestion since then and have been testing each day (Binax), only getting negatives. Today I feel good. So I’m assuming it wasn’t Covid?
Here’s the other thing: I want to get the recent booster, but say that was Covid. What would happen?
Well I know four people, including my daughter last week, who burned through two boxes of tests over 4 days before getting 2 lines. You only get four free tests per household. Otherwise it's `0 bucks a pop. I'll take my chances. My high risk sister with Lupus would definitely test immediately and often.. but normal folks probably can wait.
Nothing extra.
The immune system is a fancy beast. The durable immunity from vaccination or infection matures over weeks and months. You feel better, but the immune system continues to develop its response to prepare for future infection. If the same pathogen appears within a few weeks, the immune system generally develops immunity as if it were a single exposure. This is why vaccines requiring more than one shot recommend several months or longer between shots. It's also why some argue the third Covid shot was extra important, as the first two shots were given a few weeks apart (too close in time). And why some recommend waiting a few months after a confirmed infection before getting the current shot.
But you’d be exposing your immune system to the same thing it was just exposed to (in essence - there likely is nuance when it comes to what variant you had vs what variants are covered in the vaccine you’d be getting) - smarter minds can weigh in here.
General recommendation by medicals: do not get vaccine right after current recovery due to transient immunity from infection. Wait 2+/- month to get vaccine for extended immunity.
I asked my doc about vax for my daughter while already leaning towards the wait 3 months after recovering recommendations. He said A) her natural immunities are now already pretty close to the same as the vax offers.. B) the next iteration of vaccines will likely cover newer variants. so definitely wait 3-6 months.
I’m laughing at the vaxxed getting Rona.
I swear they said it worked. Stop the spread. Etc.
Also laughing at the masking. It’s back. Despite many studies that it doesn’t work. Yeah it keeps your cough and sputum from spraying out. But it doesn’t stop airborne virus from coming in
Carry on. Flame me bro.
