Says the unicorn. It's ok to admit you like mini-horses too. It's 2022 after all.

You all just need to remember the rules of masking:
Everybody who took off their mask before you is a callous asshole who doesn't care about people and everybody who takes off their mask after you is either paranoid or engaging in a performative exercise.
Just remember that and you can continue to judge everybody else in society.
"Ivermectin worthless against COVID in largest clinical trial to date
The antiparasitic failed to reduce hospitalization and all other severe outcomes."
https://arstechnica.com/science/2022...against-covid/
you don't say...Quote:
The largest clinical trial to date on the use of the antiparasitic drug ivermectin against COVID-19 concluded that the drug is completely ineffective at treating the pandemic disease, according to results published in The New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday.
The double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial was primarily designed to test if ivermectin could reduce the need for hospitalization among 1,358 COVID-19 patients at high risk of severe disease. Ivermectin did not, according to the international team of researchers behind the trial, dubbed TOGETHER. "We did not find a significantly or clinically meaningful lower risk of medical admission to a hospital or prolonged emergency department observation with ivermectin," the researchers reported.
They can't help themselves. Perhaps it's because without each other to tell them how good they are for society, no one will recognize their sacrifices. It's like a gold star in Kindergarten class. Did you get yours?
I wore my mask the whole time while masks were required and never complained or mistreated anyone for it, maintained appropriate social distancing protocols as recommended by the CDC, yet I got Covid before getting vaccinated. Therefore, based on conversations and recommendations with my doctor, I made a choice to not get the shot after my infection. That was my choice based on information I was given. I don't expect all of you, or any of you to agree with me. And any suggestions of selfishness or desire to harm others are unfounded.
If you have been vaccinated and didn't get sick, that's amazing. If you got the shot and still got sick, I'm sorry. If you didn't get the shot at all, that's also your choice. Either way, it's wholly inappropriate to deem a person's entire existence on this planet as less worthy than yours because they made a different choice than you did. That makes you the problem. For all you know, many people have been vaccinated during the mandates, but remain in the anti-covid vaccine groupset. In the end it's their choice. Everyone is entitled to their own ideas. In a matter like this, where misinformation was spread like wildfire, people will gravitate towards not trusting what they don't understand. Forcing them won't fix their belief.
This thread was claimed to be started as a place to discuss the vaccine in a healthy manner. It's become exactly the opposite. The majority of what I have read in here is suggesting that many of you people, some of who I have known for years, seem to think that any opposition to the stance you have taken makes that person somehow inferior to them. Any suggestion of an idea that doesn't align with said group is immediately trampled out of existence. How is that productive? It's actually sad.
All I'm suggesting is that maybe, just maybe, try a little harder to respect your fellow humans for being just that. Human.
Made an appt for my second booster plus a shingles vax. Blocked out the next 2 days b/c the shingles vax is supposed to be rough.
Maybe the 2nd booster isn't needed, but the best argument I have seen against is that it isn't needed, not that there's any shred of evidence that it would be harmful. If it maybe isn't needed, but won't cause me harm and is free and maybe will help, well, I'll give it a whirl.
i'm happy to have this conversation with you in person some day, but this superiority/inferiority thing isn't the meat of it...that seems to be a tribal byproduct of a medical argument that got diverted in media to a partisan, tribal divide
not everyone gets a star is right -- that means that not everyone's ideas stand up to scrutiny
^^ shingles vax was a piece of cake for me. Minor soreness at the injection site for maybe half a day.
I’ve known plenty of people who got shingles, glad I got vaxxed for it.

Shingrix is $200 a shot with insurance. I think retail is $250. So $500 if you can find someone to give it to you before you turn 50. I know many people who have had shingles before they were 50.
The shingrix absolutely kicked my ass both times.
Here is another take on 4th dose. I think the wife one gets one, her doctor has her charted for it already. Daughter turned 12 yesterday. She will get her adult 30 mcg Pfizer 1st boost as soon as she is eligible 5 months out (May).
Myself, my negative has softened. If I did get one it would be Pfizer on top of my 3 Modernas. Still seems silly though to bother with it so soon.

Damn you guys are really old.
Yours is a good post, nw-
it provides a lot of insight - Thank you.
it also expresses something - to me it reads as an intolerance - that seems contrary to your conclusion. Tolerance of others, which I support -
However,
covid remains a potentially deadly disease - readily transmissible disease.
I'm not-sure how you are claiming that a person's entire existence is defined by a different choice., But
that does seem to be the current state of our society.
I agree - That's sad.
my drum remains -
immunity through vaccination.
it has been part of my life for sixty years.
I have friends who are unvaccinated.
They remain my friends - and we will not yet be interacting in-person...
I believe it is too soon to be drawing any historical conclusions -
alpha, delta, omicron ... what's next ?
Because it has been six months since my booster, I believe waning immunity is real And a risk, And I have public exposure ( that I try to minimize ),
I will be looking for another booster this month.
I believe and I hope by being vaccinated, I am less likely to transmit covid ( though it is well documented in these pages, immunity does not prevent transmission. )
so.
Thank you for your insight -
I agree that tolerance is a goal.
covid is not going to be an issue on which I am yet able to be more tolerant.
Good luck -
respectfully. tj
Not happy to hear shingles two is also a bummer — I’m getting it Mon
No you didn't
Why did they bother. Did they think anyone would change their minds?
Maybe just get the shots and then you won't have to go around feeling so oppressed and persecuted all the time. In fact, you can start being the oppressor.
I had zero reaction to it. Or to any other vaccine. OK, Covid #2 (Moderna) made me a little tired for a day. But that's it.
I've never had a disease I've been vaccinated for that I know of---knock on wood--so I assume the vaccines are still working.
I wish I tolerated pollen as well as I tolerate vaccines. Oh, and I've never had poison oak or ivy, despite having been around them a ton and lots of other people in my group getting it. I'm not about to test to see if I'm immune though.
