I'd imagine that will happen a bit more now. We're back to essential travel within our own country so it might rub people the wrong way having foreigners thinking its fine to have less responsibility than us in our own country

I just did a 5 day trip to Revelstoke from Bellingham. Proof of a negative Covid test in the last 72 hours along with proof of being fully vaccinated and having the travel Canada app info submitted is Required for driving into Canada. They are checking all of those documents.Quote:

Alberta-hwy 1 to Banff lots of USA plates, however the USA plates have been consistent without border being open in previous months. Lots of insurance adjusters up here dealing with storm claims from last year and lots of energy contractors/employees around enjoying the sights. No big deal. My wife and I shared a table at the brewery this afternoon with a guy from Saskatoon who's been working in California and now moved to Montana. Talk turned to covid as it always does these days, and he said he was unvaxxed, suspicious of it, blah blah blah. We said we and our kids were fully vaxxed, blah blah blah. He said he didn't get the shingles vax either, then got shingles, and it was the worst thing ever. Not sure how he squared that in his head with not getting the covid vax, but whatever.
Once we got past that, we sat and talked with him for an hour. He was new to Helena and really psyched to be living in Montana. We gave him all sorts of local tips. Great guy, really nice and interesting to talk to. You Canucks are all right in my book--even if you are a bunch of kooky anti-vaxxers. :)

Some anecdotal evidence. The only anti-vaxer I know, who recently got and recovered from COVID, has realized that with BC’s vaccine passport coming into effect, it’s in his interest to get the jab, and so has overcome his concerns (the usual litany), and received his first dose. I’m certainly hoping this is common, though whether it will be, or whether it hardens people’s resolve, is impossible to know in these crazy times. I feel fortunate that my community, province and country seem to have enough of a handle on this that living with COVID is quite tolerable (but for all the friends and family from afar I don’t get to spend time with), but I’m not seeing a path out of this mess anytime soon.
