Yeah, I doubt you'll get any flak about your Washington plates. We are allowed in now, after all, and I think most Canadians respect that even if they don't agree with the decision.

Just got back from Victoria last evening. The ferries are busy, weekends so bad that a reservation would be a damn good idea. I scrapped a trip last Sunday due to this. Tsawwassen / Swartz bay was busy but still orderly. They did have a good handle on reservations and loading / unloading priority. Horseshoe bay is more difficult and think it's got to do with how it's layed out. Something to be aware of, ArriveCAN will only accept a Canadian address when you fill in your place of quarantine. Even if you check the box indicating you are returning same (or next) day. On Facebook, lots of comments about this and it forces one to have a Canadian address you can use even if it's incorrect. That aside, the Border agents are helpful and seem happy to have travelers back. They do need your documentation and check everything, as you would expect. Another confusing factor is the Covid test on arrival in Canada. The Border guy said no, they relaxed this and you won't need a Covid test when you cross into Canada. Their website still indicates it's required....part of why this process seems overly complicated.
US land border closure for Canadians extended for another month.
Just got back from a four day trip from Missoula to Waterton Park. Had to show proof of a negative test, which my wife and I had done the day before. The ArriveCan site let us sign up to cross at Chief Mountain (just on the east edge of the two parks). However, it was closed, hasn't been open for two years, and won't open at all this year. Fortunately, the crossing just 15 miles east was open. There was no issue about crossing at a site other than the one we signed up for. The border agent asked the usual questions about guns and alcohol, and was curious about Covid testing in Montana. I work at the Missoula testing center and actually processed our own tests in our mini-lab, though I thought that would be TMI for the agent, but did tell him that our rate of testing has exploded in the last month.
Returning, it took longer for the US agent to pull the barrier aside than it did for us to answer the few standard questions.
Strange that the US border remains closed but ours still open as we go back to masks and crowd restrictions and the 4th wave in full flight

Even stranger is the US southern border where all you need to do is claim refugee status and promise to show up at an immigration hearing and they let you in with no Covid tests or proof of vax, no need for a passport or ID. They then transport these folks all over the country.
Source?

There is a crisis at the US southern border where 200k plus undocumented aliens crossed into the US from Mexico in July alone and close to 1m since Jan., and you need a source because you don't know this??? And this doesn't count the ones that were brought in undetected by Coyotes.
Try checking Youtube or Google.
What does that have to do with your claim above that

Because undocumented aliens crossing the border is not the same as those seeking asylum. So, again, source?
DanoT must live in the Trump part of Canaduh

He's right about the problem and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging it, unless you're too much of a dipshit to face reality.
yes, there’s a problem with people crossing. does that make what he said about every unaccompanied minor being given a free puppy and sent on their way true?
^^it doesn't. There is virtually noone being allowed to claim asylum currently at our southern border.
Im just amazed at all these good people that were probably fun to hang out with or ski with have been twisted all up with the misinformation camoaigns and seem to be oblivious to it being a thing. A couple friends have gone off the rails with the freedumb anti vax no mask bs. Caught me and a big crew of long time friends off guard. Theyve been just taken away, untouchavle. Common sense in absent , or atleast not selected if a conspiracy is involved

had a great dinner with my parents across from cinema beaubien. no french was spoken but i snapped a shot of the trudeau poster out front. some other posters are going up too now but i’d say he was way better prepared for the electioneering.
my friends also bumped into billary in the townships, so i guess we are letting everyone in now.

if he lost his seat then he couldn’t be the pm right? has any rival party spent a shitload ever to get a third party elected? i could see villeray going ndp or bloc queb even if the cons sunk a few million promoting rivals.
bloc queb looks really multicultural this time around, i think i saw a black person on a sign.
not sure how it works I think JT would still be PM but they get a sho-in sitting candidate to quit, they slid the PM in there and then they call a by-erection ?
I don't think its a problem for JT ?
I think the libs might be ahead of the cons by at least 6% ?
I wonder if its true the Cons were advertising for candidates on FB ?
the big question is probably be liberal minority or majority ?
my riding is pretty solid NDP, the Con candidate is a recovered drug addict/ tattoo artist with a bunch of tats and shit in her face and the liberal is nowhere
Trudeau didnt look great the first week. Jagmeet and the tool made up some ground for sure. Nice that we wont have to listen to Bernier bloviate

Ya, the PM is selected by the ruling party. They don't have to have a seat in parliament, but it greatly limits their influence. As XXX-er pointed out, some low ranking MP would step aside in a secure riding, a by-election is held, and then the PM gets a seat in the house. Can also happen at the provincial level. Old Cristy Clark lost her riding in Vancouver somewhere, but the BC Libs still won the election. So some sacrificial MLA in Kelowna stepped aside so she could win a seat in the provincial legislature.
