In Quebec the vaccinated percentages are being fed to us by the national public health institute, not the media. I guess i'm just saying, I'm gonna go with what the experts say because i don't know shit. I don't really know anything about heard immunity, I'm not a doctor, I'm not a virologist. I'm just a dumb fucking cannuck.
But we have pretty good institutions in Canada, particularly in QC. And Canadians have a little more faith in their institutions than Americans do in theirs (i think). So I'll go with the expert advice that is given. And note that the advice coming from the institution is not what is spread and manipulated by political masters or the biased media outlets. Although to the benefit of the Quebec government currently in power, they have been doing an OK job of acting on the advice from their non-political health officials. Quebec is one of the few places that kept schools open during the pandemic. Closing schools was a last resort, since this allow parents to continue to work and remain somewhat sane. Schools outbreaks were dealt with by closing affected classrooms and doing targeted contact tracing. So like Legault said, and probably what JT will say too, 75% of the eligilble pop vaxxed, then the border opens. Heard immunity would be nice, but i think the objective is really to ensure that the health care system is not overwhelmed. Unvaxxed <12 yo are not going to overwhelm the healthcare system. I don't know if we will ever reach heard immunity with the emergence of new variants etc. I think we will probably have to deal with this virus for many more years to come and might require boosters along the way.
