also does OP not use outside edge during a turn? one of those weirdos that lifts their inside foot to initiate a turn?
[QUOTE=caulfield;5833808]Maybe it’s like biopace and was almost right, but so wrong—need those binding offset to the outside
Ummm...., Biopace came back and now oval chainrings are super popular again.....
mounted as per manufacturers instructions......

Actually you need to have the special offset boots that match the bindings.
Otherwise you are just gonna go in circles.
they ski great. you don’t notice the offset in deep snow at all. you also have an edge to set when ever you hit hardpack or ice.
they are a lot of fun in the sloppy afternoon spring bumps.....
after some 23 years or so, still haven’t ripped a binding off the skii...
fuck.
I had biopace...for a while (came on my first mtb: Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo - HAD to replace the rings). The showstopper with these (at least for me) was insane chainsuck. If the chain got in the wrong place (and no, this was not due to wrong front derailleur travel setting), the chain would not just suck in between bottom bracket and small chainring, but would wedge in there like fuck, as the wide part of the chainring worked its leverage magic.
I'm assuming others had this nightmare, and this is why Biopace went away...and assuming oval is back again mostly due to: 1x setups, clutched derailleurs (and chain tensioners maybe - not that I run one of those) - no more chainsuck issues. I still go with round though, having been traumatized in the past.
Ok, to un-thread-drift: I had a buddy in the '90's, with K2 Big Kahunas, mounted way offset (more than in the pic above). A shocking 88mm in the waist, lol (ok, they did look super freaking wide at the time). He loved 'em. Bunk-ass idea though - you are cashing in your inside edge, and...if you want to rail bulletproof groomers, just don't choose your 130+ width skis that day.
Anyone got a number on how many podiums are with off set binding ?
I've tried a bike with bio-ace and I could feel it when I pedaled
I have a 28T absolute black on my yeti and i couldn't really feel it

Sort of like that but a wider board with the feet more perpendicular, not 90 degrees but more like you'd stand on a surfboard like 45 degree angle with regular alpine boots and bindings.
