Yeah I guess what I struggle the most with is wind drift... which gets deep and has the consistency of mashed potatoes.

Just got an email that my shop was invoiced for a Blizzard! Stoked! Looks like I am getting a new bike...this season...maybe kinda. We're in a melt pattern at the moment, so it may not see snow this season.
And yeah, wet snow and sugary snow is a bitch when 5"+ or so, maybe less at times. Typically below that I really enjoy breaking trail. Definitely more of a taxing workout, so it's most fun with friends to switch off leading.

When the skiing sucks balls the fat biking can be prime. Crazy rideable even up pretty high. DH was sooo fun!!

Woah
Just posting this up here for notice: WTB: stud kit from 27.5 fatties or studded 27.5 4.5's. LMK if anyone is holding.
FS: 120mm Bluto, Excellent condition. Used for (maybe) three rides. I just don’t need it for the groomed/packed trails here in town.
I will measure steer tube in a bit, just seeing if there is interest.
$200.00 plus shipping?
Ah nuts. I just bought one on PB last week. Wife’s non-union clavicle makes shoulder season riding on a rigid fork a little rough.
Dang. Hope the Bluto works for her!
Am I priced a little low for eBay/etc, or about right?
Sounds good to me. I would have bought at that price.
Speaking of Blutos.....I'm looking to ditch my 120mm Bluto too but don't want to drop the front end of my bike with a shorter carbon fork. Does a carbon fat bike fork exist that has a similar axle to crown measurement as a 120 Bluto?
Unfortunately I am no longer fat.. at least in the sense of bike ownership. I sold mine last spring as it was getting outdated and most importantly.. not broken. There's still such a huge untapped potential for Fatty's that I'll eventually get a new one hopefully with some rad modern Geo..
In the meantime I've got these basically new barely used schwalbe jumbo jims 26x4.8 ready to ship. They've been kicking around for a few seasons unused but are in excellent shape. Very high volume tire great for shredding sand dunes.
I honestly don't know what a good price on these is.. does $130 shipped seem fair?

Maybe this thread is dead. Slight warming trend has really improved the riding.

It’s almost too soft here.

This season's been good, but all over the place.

Was in the lbs today and shop mechanic asks me, "Are you fat?", then the other mech says, "friends don't let friends ride fat bikes.....or fat chicks" What could I say but, "have you ever ridden a fat chick?"
It went sideways from there.
It's starting to shape up around here, the windstorm on the weekend made things messy

Phat is where its at.
I’d rather ride a Fat Bottom Girl, than not ride at all.

Get on your bikes and ride!

Fat dad shower thoughts;
I currently have a Thule trailer, and that Robert axle project place has a thru axle kit to make the trailer work on my fat Yukon.
Now, I’ve been wondering, do you think a 20x4” tire would fit fine on a narrow Thule trailer wheel?
Anyone have any thoughts?
2nd time we've had a measurable amount of fresh snow. My new Blizzard rides really well with 27.5 and 66 ht angle. The derailleur is a pos and the hub might be worse! Hard to upgrade when it doesn't snow.

Things firmed up and we had a couple of great weeks of fat biking. More snow today, but it should be able to worked in with the base to have the trails great again my Sunday

So I’m slightly fat bike curious. Night rides during the winter months seem like fun. How bad/good are these super cheap framed bikes? The house has them on sale for like $480.
