Speaking of one note actors, I caught parts of several Cary Grant movies on TCM during Oscar month--I hadn't realized how annoying he actually was. I've been ruined for old movies by how good present day acting and screenwriting can be. (Full disclosure--I've never seen a Marvel movie.)
Kevin Costner is another one note actor. He was good in Bull Durham and the Upside of Anger, but although it was a good movie, in Dances With Wolves traumatized civil war vet meets Valley Bro doesn't work. There's a reason he's in a lot of baseball movies.
