Mrs. Plug spent the weekend with her old school chums, and one of the daughters of the group is going through a horrible healthcare situation with her boyfriend. We’re in the middle of a kitchen remodel and have been waiting for weeks for the floor guy to show up, along with some of the other trades who are waiting on him as well. I’m talking timelines with the general this morning and he said that the floor guy is coming today and should only take a few days and then everyone else can fall in line and start getting shit done.
He backed in his trailer at 10am, sat in his truck till 1130 and then unloaded his equipment and told me he was heading to lunch. Got back here at 130pm, and no shit, has been sitting in his truck ever since. It’s 3 fucking 30 and not one bit of progress. I’m at stage three pull my hair out frustration and the general just keeps telling me this guy is a genius at refinishing wood floors.
Throw him off the job. Have your GC get somebody else or find your own floor guy. If you get a bill for the floor guys last day on site tell your GC he needs to pay the bill. It's that easy.Quote:

Of the mail I know is coming to me (i.e. not junk mail), 0% of it arrives within a week, regardless of where it's coming from. Around 20% of it never arrives at all. I'm approaching the point where I need to tell people to send letters to me via UPS / Fedex if they want me to actually get them.

And if we tried to put misdeleivered mail in the outgoing mail slot it died , even if we labeled it as misdelivered. Turns out that the boxes weren't labeled on the inside. When the carrier opened the front of the box with all the individual label little doors, they were looking at a bunch of unlabeled cubbies that they had to load by memory. No you don't pay for homie to talk and the phone and go to lunch if it is T&M. But if it's bid rate, how the subs dick of ain't your business. Now, if its fuckin' up the schedule, talk to the GC about it. But honestly, be careful. I refuse remodels if the homeowner is there. Because it's just how contractors are. You don't want to see the sausage being made and I don't want phone calls trying to manage my guys.
And I know that is not your style, but I've seen it go bad. Customers think they have more leverage that them do. And in a small town, its pretty hard to get anyone to work on a half finished job.

You’re right, it is dying. Why that’s so isn’t so cut and dried. If not being able to poliass about Elon and Trump is your line in the sand, well fuck you too. People who've been here for a long time and choose to ignore the fact that there has always been moderation annoy me. ONS did some, frozen did too. Hell one mod effectively took on India and nuked the incessant spam every morning so the first page wasn't full of spam threads.
It's not a surprise that a thread or two gets moved to polyass, the discussions pop up every 2 years about what's the line. It's not like we/they really want to move everything into polyass.
