This is funny! Wtf is up with exclusive parking for electric cars with no charging station? Why not charge extra for gas/diesel vehicles to park. That'll really motivate people to drive battery-operated vehicles.
Do home depots in places that have a preponderance of cars have exclusive parking for diesels just so the diesel driver can find a spot?

That's one thing, and I get that. However, if that was the sole reason, they wouldn't have then complained about your parking. They would have done the opposite and thanked you. No, this was premeditated douchebaggery. These kinds of people are why we can't have nice things
11 days ago, was at hockey practice trying to teach our goalie how to properly poke check (it's all or nothing!). Kid does a few, all good, "okay one more time" and then boom - poke checks my skate instead of the puck, I drop like a sack of hammers and smash my shin in to the post. Ouch!
It's still sore, and my ankle is kinda swollen (I assume it's just gravity pulling blood down from the injury). I can still skate and have been riding the snowboard of late as the boots are softer, with no big problems.
What I need to know is what the hell can I do to get this leg back to ski-boot-ready by Saturday - I'm open to any and all homeopathic voodoo remedies. What foods to eat, ice, no ice, massage, no massage, incense, prayers, anything. I do not want to see a doctor because they may tell me not to ski.
Heat, massage, ibuprofen (to reduce swelling, not the pain).
My go-to for leg injuries or exhaustion is to get my butt within 6-8" of the wall and place my legs straight up the wall. Maximum elevation. Many times, I can feel the blood thumping and moving down to my core. 10 minutes minimum.
We get recycling pickup once a week and garbage twice a week, the trucks are single-operator and just lifts the can up and dumps it but it has to be facing the right way or it gets bypassed. We don't have a dump to take trash or recycling to so if the garbage doesn't get picked up you're stuck with it. Two other houses further down the street had it happen too so my guess is it's one of the assholes I've asked not to let their dog piss and shit on in our yard walking their dog at night because it's turned before the school kids head for the bus in the morning. This morning makes three weeks in a row that some asshole turned them around and the truck leaves them so both cans are absolutely stuffed. It looks like rather than working this morning I'm driving around with a van full of garbage looking for a place to dump it :cussing:
This is annoying RICE, rest, ice, compression and elevation. Heat? GTFO.

Classic RICE (but alternate heat and cold toflush inflamation). Use icyhot/tigerbalm to draw in blood, and then compression after to put waste product and fluid out. And wrap that shit tight with an ace bandage... the key is that the inflamation has to have a place to go, and you want that fluid traveling up your shin to a spot above your skiboot cuff, not down into your foot. Keep the compression on the morning of skiing, remove the ACE bandage before you slide your foot into your boot and the boot will provide you all the compression youll ever need.
Inflamation is key to recovery, but it is dogshit for performance. So you want to keep the fluid coming and going to heal the leg, but when it comes time to perform, you want to compress it so the inflammation doesnt hinder your performance.
Not a humblebrag at all. I hate driving the pickup truck, and I don't particularly like doing house projects. I'm annoyed before I even get to the stupid home depot parking lot because I have to drive my big stupid truck that's not particularly comfortable, and once I get home, I have to fumble my way through a remodel that I'm not particularly good at. So having to deal with the shitty parking lot is just an annoyance in the middle of a larger annoyance. I'd much rather drive my reasonably sized car and go skiing. But such is life, and my house will work better in a decade or so when I finally finish this project.
I may start a side business and teach men who to park their big trucks in parking lots. Maybe I'll market to their wives on IG and get their husbands to sign up. Because it's annoying waiting for these ding dongs to figure out how to park in a simple rectangle every time I go to Home Depot. For an air filter or a couple brushes. Don't modern trucks have cameras everywhere to help these dudes out - I don't get it.
Like how during the history of all previous owners, NOBODY bothered to remove light switch/outlet plates? Literally every single house I've owned, I've had to deal with that. Gotta carefully cut the paint (and/or caulk for some reason?) and peel them off. Then like the rings of a tree, you can see all the many layers of different color paint. One of the first things I do to my homes is swap out all the grody old light yellowed switches and electrical outlets, along with all the covers. This always takes so much longer than it should due to this odd phenomenon. Especially when you have to sand down the old lines or repair chunks of drywall that were missing and shoddily patched previously. I'd blame DIY'ers but evidently some of the more budget oriented "pros" do this too when doing quick and cheap spray jobs. Drives me up a wall.
Doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal, but when you're swapping out like 50 at a time, it gets old. Haha.
The problem is, the proper way to park a big truck is to back in. But that doesn't work when you need access to the tailgate to load wood.
My truck is also shitty enough that it doesn't have cameras. But that's ok; my neck still more or less functions and is able to turn.
This is really annoying... especially when the "worse job" was done by the fuckin' BUILDER 35 years ago.

Yeah. Absolutely abysmal parking skills for this subset of people that just "HAVE" to have a truck for no good reason. However, for some REAL truck jong-related entertainment, go spend a day at your local boat ramp. Maybe bring a picnic chair and a cooler. The hilarity will be non-stop all day long.
My place wasn't too bad about painted switch plates, but they were terrible about in wall splices without junction boxes, and junction boxes buried in the walls. So anytime I open up a wall, I can expect to have to deal with some sort of not-at-all-to-code wiring.
And, of course, nothing is plumb or square, but that kinda goes without saying.
Oof. That triple sucks then. I feel your pain. Thankfully in my current home, the initial build was actually really good. It's been the previous DIY stuff I've had to deal with mostly. Haha. Still though. All in all not that bad compared to my last home where EVERYTHING had to be redone at some point. At least my sewage system hasn't blown up on me here like my last home with it's broken septic system.
They were at least consistent...

On the upside, the house more or less works. So I'm improving things but most of the work isn't immediately necessary, so I can take my time. My wife also just really likes living in a perpetual construction zone, so I've got that going for me.
Dealing with sewage had to suck - I've only had to mess with that a little bit, and it was unpleasant.
I feel your pain. I think the same guy built my house.
No. I got that part. I think I assumed something that upon a careful re-read may have been false. I assumed that the ranger was acting on a complaint from the Subaru people. In that case the scenario was that they parked there for privacy to change and boot up and then decided to complain about your friend's parking job after using it to their advantage. Upon re-read I see no mention of a complaint.
re: parking lot lines, a former coworker owned a pavement painting company. He said that as vehicles got bigger, owners wanted more stalls, not fewer. He'd tell them that would create problems parking/loading and more scratches, door dings, etc. but they didn't care.
Basically, the metric was number of steps from the door. Making people walk farther would send those customers to the competition.
Dunno, that was a total mystery. We parked alongside the other rig to avoid taking up a bunch of spaces since the lot was getting busy when we arrived. By the time we got back, maybe a 3 hour ride, it was emptying out with tons of room.
I don't think anyone complained. The ranger just saw us "blocking him in" and decided we were bad people.
Where were your plates from? :FIREdevil
I did my good deed for the month this. I managed to park in the absolute last spot at Alpine Meadows. Left enough room for the big pickup in the row in front of me to get out. And chased away the guy in the Audi who wanted to park next to me and block the pickup in.
