At the Costco I go to there are some other stores in the same complex. There are a couple rows of parking for those stores marked "Customer parking only. No Costco Parking" I'm not sure I've seen anyone from one of those stores park there. It's always people coming out of Costco. It's almost like people park there just to be dicks since they're told they can't park there.
And I'm always amazed at the level of effort people put into finding the closest possible spot. Jesus, just park a bit farther out where there are spots. The extra 100 feet isn't going to kill you.
You'd be wrong about that last sentence.
I'm just amazed at the amount of aggravation they must go through to get that coveted close spot. Circling the lot. Then blocking the lane for 5min when they spot someone with a full cart opening the trunk. Then trying to pull in first while dude claiming same spot from the opposite direction tries to pull in. But both of them getting blocked while three other people try to reverse out of nearby spots. Then no one can move because of gridlock. I just go straight to the back of the lot and park where there is always room.Quote:

The Duramax with the rack in the background, running some shitty tune spewing an eye watering amount of unburned diesel exhaust, worked hard to maneuver into a tight spot leaving <10" to the suv next to him. Barely room to get out of the drivers door as well.
The best was as I was pulling out watching a guy park his truck about two inches from the bumper in the left spot.

At the pizza place the car was centered in two spots while the morbidly obese driver shuffled to the Xfinity store behind me. A couple of signs announce that the spaces there are "reserved for pizza pickup".

I'm in Montana. Every single person in that lot (including myself) is driving a giant fucking truck. And plenty of people (including myself) are loading assorted large building materials into those trucks. But yet the lines are painted like the average customer is driving a sub-compact.

And sure, I *could* load that stuff up in the drive through that's right in front of the store, but some dickbag in a prius is inevitably parked there, slowly loading up the 3 paint brushes he bought.

I try not to judge anymore. It’s possible there were other cars parked shitty there when they arrived, forcing them to squeeze in where there was space. The original offenders depart and get replaced by good upstanding citizens that know how to drive, leaving some poor schmuck who just did his/her best to use the space that was available looking like an asshole. Maybe that car/truck owner isn’t the asshole. The real asshole already left and is home taking a shit or driving slow in the left lane on the thruway or berating some teenager working the drive thru a mile down the road. Some times we mistake the poor schmuck for the raging asshole.
So ..... sooner or later, we're all raging assholes?

Sometimes it's the guy who arrives after you who makes you look like an asshole. Pic is from a roadtrip to Moab/Grand Junction years ago. My friend parked the van and trailer next to a truck and trailer that was parked parallel to the fence. When we got back from the ride the truck and trailer was gone and some guy in a subaru had shoe horned himself nose in, between our trailer and the fence so it looked like he was there first and we blocked him in. We got back to the lot to find a BLM ranger waiting for us to give us shit for that. I showed him the photo off my camera and he just shook his head and walked away.Quote:
