Re: the pediatrician; luckily he’s got one, but she’s not really following him. CHEO (the hospital) did have an OT and a nurse following us up until he decided he didn’t want the tube anymore, so they dropped us.

Healthcare here (Ontario) is really falling apart.

He’s kept up his weight, he’s never been a failure to thrive, just difficulty feeding, and swallowing. Oh, and I never mentioned he also silently aspirates, which may or may not still be happening, he’s never had a pneumonia though, which is a plus.

All the ski shops in myvarea are closing or switching over to bikes, meanwhile all my gear seems to be falling apart. And the skiing is probably the best it is all season. Ugh annoying.

I would expect your son’s pediatrician to at the very least be giving you some sense of the timeline for this issue to resolve (if that’s what they are thinking) - so at least you’d have some sort of end date for what you’re going through.

It sounds like the reason why he’s maintaining his weight and not being a failure to thrive case is the extreme attention you guys are paying to keeping him fed - which doesn’t sound sustainable for you or anyone to keep up.

The catch22 is that due to your care and devotion he’s staying as healthy as possible - thereby avoiding crisis - thereby not triggering the system to step in.

Easy for me to say but often hard to actually make happen - but if you can get him back in front of a pediatrician that could be helpful. If that’s available I would spend some time detailing a succinct summary of the current situation. Type it up well in advance and refine it over time with your wife. Be honest about how much effect this is having on your health, marriage, work, and mental health. If possible provide a copy to the pediatricians clinic staff in advance so they can read it before seeing you.

Separate from that also type up the questions you want answered (like when can we expect improvement? What’s the next step for us if there is no improvement or if there is worsening?) Bring that list to the appointment. Write down their answers.

If that’s not available you may consider doing the same steps (typing up your summary and also your questions) and going through the ER (but that sucks as an option as you know)

April fool’s crap is annoying.

It does seem to be much less prevalent, maybe folks are seeing it as the boomer thing it has become.

Did the lucky charms fools invade the closet today?

Hung the last of the shirts and sweaters in my closet yesterday. Turn around and the whole thing collapses, one of the anchors completely ripped out of the wall. Turns out the thing was hung with 8 brad nails in to drywall - I'm surprised it lasted this long!

Like, if they used glue as well it'd stay forever, but nope - lazy and quick. The previous owner of this house cut a lot of corners with things like that I've seen. Moran.

70+y/o MIL not in Spain for more than a few hours before getting robbed waiting for a train. Purse with phone, wallet, Ipad, checkbook, passport, etc. nabbed.

She was with her friend, so two kind of old ladies waiting for a train. Guy walks up and throws paint on one of them and bails. Another guy is Johny on the spot with napkins or something. Hands them to MIL and proceeds to snatch purse.

Glad she's safe. Annoys me for a multitude of reasons.

Guy tried to pull that one on us in the train station at the Rome airport. Dumped a coffee drink on our luggage and offered to clean it off. We got the suitcases between us, hung on tight to our other stuff, and let him clean away. Clean cut guy in a jacket and tie, spole English very well.

I'm quite surprised that women choose to carry purses when traveling internationally...

Speaking of annoying spilling of shit, just me and my kid were in a plane row (three seats). I had my shoes off (yeah, I know), and manage to accidentally kick over my cup of ice water, which proceeds to spill straight into the shoes.

Oops!

My 10 months old daughter emptied her sippy cup into my lap this morning at breakfast. While staring me down. Looked very intentional. While I was flailing around trying to mop the water up she grabbed a handful of eggs from my plate, mushed them in her hand, and grabbed me by the collar then smeared everything down my sleeve.
I barely had time to dispatch her with her grandparents and throw a clean shirt on before a zoom call.
