Outbacks that are '12 and newer have oil consumption issues. Something to do with trying to eek out better MPG by switching to lower weight oil (0w20) and not designing the piston/piston rings correctly. I'm in the middle of a oil consumption test on mine. If it fails I get a new short block.
Ha! This is so true. I made the Subaru dealer drain a qt after an oil change more than once. Hyundai is even worse, they overfill by more than a qt.Quote:
