Had to come down to the office today for an in person meeting, got sucked into a bunch of others which consisted of me sitting there on mute doing fuck'all, and failed to leave on time to dodge the incoming winter storm road apocalypse. Current estimate for the 19 miles drive home: 98 minutes. Minutes of work produced today: fewer than 98 minutes by a lot. Worth my time? Fuck no, would have accomplished more staying at home dealing with baby + puppy.
^ I find jobs to be annoying as shit.
Fortunately I’m in my post employment phase.

I just travelled from the lower blue dot headed north to i80, in the maw of the gurge as basom would say, around 5:15. Then when I thought I crossed the finish line around 6:50, my exit was closed due to dipshit front-drive all-season tire fuckheads. More were scattered all across the interstate heading to the 3300 exit. Any bit of incline made them stuck or crawl to 5mph. Suckers.
I don't mind the slow commute as a blinding snowstorm will do that during rush hour - but the people with shit tires can go fuck themselves.

Driving up to skiing Monday I was doing about 30 or so on a snow/ice covered road which seemed reasonable for the conditions. I've had just under 70" of rain since the middle of June. Now every time it rains the basement gets wet :( The water table is so high and the ground is thoroughly saturated so if it even looks like rain the seep begins. It sucks.
I'm getting it too. Even with grades dropping away from the house, walk out basement, curtain drain, still get floor covered with water. Pressure on the slab is bubbling the floor paint. Thinking of getting drain tile installed but $$$$$.Quote:

Vibes. My renters' lease ended Dec 31st, and I wasnt able to get new ones in for January. I dropped the price, and from what i can tell i am below comp for the area. After showing the place to 4 other folks, i am currently still staring down an empty february too... ugh. Interest is just dead right now. I wouldnt mind selling the place come spring/summer when the RE market is much hotter, but that would come with staring down another 4-5 months of lost rental income. It was never supposed to be an investment property, i just got stuck with a FAT special assessment 6months before we bought our first house and that made teh place unsellable, so ive rented it for the last few years instead.Quote:

You don't need grid power for a sump to work; my ex has a pretty slick setup that has both a secondary 120V pump and an independent 12V pump that runs from a battery, with a built in charge maintenance setup for when you have grid power. It seems pretty slick (unless you fail to actually hook up the 12V batteries, as mentioned above).

Can I resurrect the singles line drama? This morning full on powder panic at the resort. I'm on my third lap and things have slowed down, the line is moving pretty fast but still a small wait. Skiing is still really good so I'm itching to get up and I join a group of three. I see a chair of three people go up, with a guy standing in the singles line. He jumps out next in front of a group of four and rides alone. I yell out "booo to the single chair rider!" The lifties laugh at me and everyone else looks at me like I'm the crazy one?
Part two: I see half a dozen people filming their run with a selfie stick. For whatever reason people who carry those are prone to going straight for 30 feet and then slamming a hockey stop, over and over. I guess that looks cool for the gram? These people understand that's no more of a faceshot than standing in front of a snowblower right?
