They are basically that. Yes.

Yup. Every time I consider switching, I hear everybody else's nightmare stories about the competition. Seems they ALL kind of suck these days and rates have gone up universally with the increases in body work costs. Still annoying since we all remember a time when they had exemplary service. Last time I had an incident was about 10 years ago in Montana when a herd of deer decided to commit suicide on the highway. USAA hooked me up with the best body shop around and basically told me don't worry about it, they'd take it from there. I never had to argue numbers or anything. Was just between them and the body shop who had to completely rebuild the whole front end. Came out looking factory fresh. Now it sounds like we have to argue with "AI adjustors" with some of these companies, huh? ....sigh....
That was my previous experience as well. I ski and bike with a bunch of guys in the business and it’s all going downhill. Of the two local shops USAA referred me to, I know that as of last week one, has stopped doing business with USAA because it’s a constant fight. Plenty of work for them without USAA.
It’s crazy what insurance companies do to body shops including caps on labor rates that don’t cover the cost of doing business. Trend seems to be moving away from local shops focused on getting your car back in great shape while treating you right, to large repair centers willing to play the game with insurance companies and squeak out a profit on a high volume of mediocre work.
And the WORST outcome of that it's harder than ever to just take your car to a body shop for minor repairs you want to pay for out of pocket. Used to be no big deal to get a ding or scrape taken care of, but now it's like they won't even talk to you if you don't have a big money job for them. Many of the mom & pops are now gone and the big chains are increasing in number.
Speaking of stuff that's annoying, how about how surveys are getting out of control. We've been getting estimates for windows and have talked to a few companies. No contract yet. We're in research mode trying to get a handle on pricing and what not. Anyway, we have been getting HOUNDED lately from survey companies they must've contracted with asking how we liked working with XYZ company. We keep having to tell them we haven't even hired them yet! After the 3rd call in a day from a local number (at like 9 at night), my wife kind of lost it on that survey rep. Haha. We will probably use one of the companies we got an estimate from, but we might have to tell them its dependent on them firing whatever super aggressive survey company they hired. Everywhere you go. Every company you interact with. Every customer service number you call. Every time you're handed a receipt. "We'd like for you to complete a quick survey for us!" It's as prevalent as the whole tipflation thing. SERIOUSLY annoying.
I responded to an airline rep a few weeks ago after she said “there will be a survey after our call if you would like to participate”. I said my reply would be dependent on if she could take an additional 10% off of my flight for the time.
She laughed.

Trying to get two 1 year old cats into crates to see the vet. What a nightmare.
And it never gets any easier
Can't you just disguise the crate to look like a cardboard box?
A coworker put in an online request for a health insurance quote. She now gets a phone call every few minutes from salespeople; just relentless. Yeah, her mistake, but Jebus how annoying.
It annoys the FUCK outta me when my client's dog runs up to me as I arrive to the new jobsite and stands up to greet me with his paws scratching the fuel tank of my mint condition 21 year old sportbike.
Motherfuckin strangle that dog.
Lost my shit in front of the guy. He asks if it'll 'buff out'.
Fucking fuck.
