Yeah. It’s all creative choices to make stuff dark and moody from top to bottom, and they don’t take into account the normal viewing experience of the people actually watching their shows.

My tv isn't even that bad with a light strip backlight. I took a look at mandalorian on my PC screen during the day and it was basically 50 shades of black. I kinda get why the gf stays on her phone while watching tv.

I agree that she is, but that hasn't seemed to help many other worthy artists. For example, I don't see how she goes in over Joy Division and New Order.

DPs set the look and aren't sales guys so I think we are stuck with dark movies until they decide to copy a newer trendier look. There's rules for streaming platforms on color space, highlights, shadows and much more but I don't think there is any rules on 'it's too dark overall' unfortunately.
