I park near the back of the lot. My door still gets dinged.
Costco seems to have the most militant parking spot stalkers. Drive past any lane and there will be a handful of cars stopped, waiting for someone to back out, sometimes when there are multiple ones too close the car trying to get out can't so it is just gridlock. No one is willing to back up and possibly have another waiting car snipe their spot. Combine that with clueless foot traffic blocking even more traffic. I really don't get it. You're coming out of costco with a cart, it's not like you need to be close because you're carrying something heavy.
X2 and they are almost always old. Just so fucking old. They have an the biggest chunk of handicapped parking spaces I’ve ever seen at the front, always filled with cars. Most of them still have a husband/wife sitting inside while the other half shops, left alone (probably on oxygen) to stare at you while walking past.
I sometimes swing in there for single purchase and a chicken bake, but park in the bank p-lot right next door. Actually a shorter walk too and plenty of open spaces. So much easier then having to deal with the rest of the mouth breathing chum that floats around. But man do I enjoy those 3lb bags of San Fran coffee beans, that shit slaps so nicely in the morning.
But in the end it’s really all about those chicken bakes. A guilty pleasure for sure.
Haha. For real. And now that you mention the cart thing, what's even MORE hilarious is how those same people had zero trouble traversing the 4.3 mile loop on their shopping journey through the massive warehouse store, but the mere thought of having to walk an extra 50-100 feet to their car? Well, can't have that now! That's just tooooo far!
Seriously. Old people really freak the hell out about that place for some reason. My parents included. One thing I used to call them out on was how worried they'd act about Covid but then would have zero qualms about braving the hordes of people at Costco. I'd tell them if you want to stay safe out there, then Costco's probably the LAST place you want to go. Particularly on days they're typically packed. And these days it seems to ALWAYS be packed mid-day, mid-week. Doesn't matter. So odd. I've found Sunday evening (near closing time) and Mondays to be the best for reasons unknown. Rest of the week, I try and stay far away from that place.
I think it's weird how often you see people just sitting in their cars in all kinds of circumstances. Half the time with the car running.
Even weirder when the weather is PERRRRRFECT. Most noticeably it's large SUVs (often with large drivers) in the car line to pick up my kids from school. I roll my windows down and shut off the car every chance I get. Saves gas and the weather's nice. Strange how few people do that.
The weather's nice? In Texas?

We got a puppy last summer and can't leave it alone. Ever. Because we've never done anything without her she now has the most intense separation anxiety I've ever seen. This leaves one of us sitting in the car with the dog a lot and if it's too cold or hot I'll have it running because I'm a fat 'murican that doesn't want to be uncomfortable. Ehh, gas is kinda cheap:FIREdevil
Have we touched on how frustrating it is to sit around waiting for a furniture delivery that hasn't shown up as the predicted time window is closing? I hate being stuck at home based on someone else's schedule.
reminds me of these.

This drives me nuts. Either clueless entitlement or cares more about their phone than the planet.
Prices don't matter when your parents foot the bill. The number of high school kids doing this in residential neighborhoods for their entire lunch break is crazy.
Repeat, but apropos
sorry, i must be getting old… i thought everyone had read about the pushcart war. good book. one of my favorites.

That's obscure. Thanks.
Swinging back to grammar annoyance: “seen” instead of “saw”
As in: ”I seen a old guy in the Costco parking lot idling his car for 45 minutes.”

Grammar like that needs fixed.
I mean, it’s even one more letter to type AND it’s wrong.
