Denver is out of eggs
I have two dozen left, but haven't seen an egg on the shelf in 3 days.
I just got back from CO and noticed that the same thing. Did all the Christmas bakers use up the supply?
Luckily I make Eggs Benedict every Christmas brunch and hollandaise (and mess up a bunch) so I always overbuy and have a dozen or so still on hand.
Apparently part of our local supply in Nebraska recently had to cull umpteen millions of birds due to avian flu... add to that the recent law that went into effect such that only "cage-free" eggs can be sold in the state, and I think you have the perfect storm.
There were plenty of eggs in Truckee Safeway the other day. Brown ones. White ones. Organic. Inorganic. Eggs from college-educated chickens. This despite the store being out of a lot of stuff--probably a truck was late because of the weather. BTW--I know white and brown eggs are supposed to be the same except for the color, but it seems like the browns are harder to crack cleanly. Anyone else notice this or is it my imagination.
@dunfree, yeah it's a beast of a machine. There's a bunch like it on FB marketplace and the price goes from reasonable to free in a few weeks then the ads disappear.
Re: Eggs - See that's why Upstate NY is better, no egg problems here. Lol
Reminded me of the R. Crumb character.
