No. Rules can be changed. It’s not all you got and you don’t need to ban anyone necessarily. We didn’t have mods. Now we do. Change the rule so we stop losing epic threads. It’s just software. Change the code

Meh.
Sometimes people drunk stoned start threads they regret. Let them delete.
Benny going full meltdown on decade old popular threads is different
MikeyB is sober, but very insecure. He's deleted many threads in the past with no repercussions. Hey ohhh. Time to benny him.
Air travel is fucked right now. My flight from SanFran to RDM is now 13 hours late, with no guarantee it’ll even happen then. FML
It's my understanding that they did change the rules for Benny - he's not banned as far as I know, and he can still delete other posts, he just can't delete the OP posts in threads that he started, which keeps him from deleting the threads. He can go in and delete or change the text of those original posts though.
All I'm saying is make the rules the same for everyone, not anything particularly radical. It will be Benny's legacy, a parting gift to all of us.
yeah, that didn’t work so well. benny kept deleting the real estate thread even after being placed on double secret probation… so he’s back in banned land for now.
it’s not about different rules.
it’s about having zero access to get the code changed.
But I think I misspoke last night and we can’t prevent thread deletes (unless the person is banned and then once banned they can only delete individual posts [which is why Benny’s ban went from a short time out to a permanent ban once he started deleting threads out if spite]) But we can now undelete threads manually, which took well over a year (maybe more like 2) hounding tgr to get that access after that one college age dipshit poster melted down and deleted the Moment skis thread and a bunch more longtime threads in tech talk.
It would be great if Mikey could chime in on his reasoning on the deleted thread.
I agree with CS that it can be a different situation when someone regrets a thread and deletes early on. It’s not my jam, but I guess I can somewhat understand. (ftr I am not familiar with that particular thread) It’s different when it’s a multi- year thread where other people had a lot of time and thought invested gets deleted out of spite.
this isn’t a standard forum for better or for worse
What’s the offense? Your snark no longer exists in the ephemeral interwebs?
Nothing any of us posts is really that important.
Even the real estate thread. Start another one.
Although it is hilarious when I see the first post. It’s like Dow $10k. Lol.
Stoke threads and tech threads should be forever. And hall of fame.
And a few dumb ass PR threads. Like upstate New York.
The server box fan could die tonight and this shitshow might end.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, my turtle has a knife.
I’ll take Utah fireworks season for a 1000 Alex.

Perhaps not an annoyance per se, but that Ernest_Hemingway no longer posts. The jacket cloth post is one of my favorite things on the whole innerwebz.
QUOTE=Ernest_Hemingway;4542682]I realize there is not much hope for a bulIfighting forum. I understand that most of you would prefer to discuss the ingredients of jacket fabrics than the ingredients of a brave man. I know nothing of the former. But the latter is made of courage, and skill, and grace in the presence of the possibility of death. If someone could make a jacket of those three things it would no doubt be the most popular and prized item in all of your closets. But these qualities as of yet may gratefully not be purchased or rented at any price.[/QUOTE]
Must admit, I raised an eye row when I saw the direction of Mikey Bs thread - not in the direction he intended, so he yanked it. I believe he didn't intend it to be taken seriously in any way, but gun lovers took it and ran. Definitely liked the movie references, though.
Politics.
Politics annoy me
There is no place in our society for a person like you.
