The North Tahoe resorts have been experiencing snowlessness this month.
So now things seems to be working a bit better around here, but when I use the "Reply With Quote" link it's replying to the wrong post. Anyone else seeing this?
FWIW, I'm currently trying to research some trails on a different forum. The default display mode is opposite of every other forum I've ever seen - with the oldest inactive threads at the top and the newest most active threads many pages back. Same within the threads. Newest posts at the top of the page, older posts as you go down and on later pages. And when you re-sort them to the proper direction it reverts back as soon as you navigate to the next page or to the forum directory. It's the most annoying thing I've ever encountered on a forum.
There is a score of people that I know from different places and stages in my life that I would love to set up chairs and have a buffet, perhaps an open bar, and just record them all meeting each other and chatting for hours. Like strangers at a wedding with a common thread. They are all at the very edge of the end of their lives now: artists, musicians, teachers, mentors; but I know that if they all sat down and spoke to each other, it would be the most amazing conversation I've ever had the pleasure of hearing, and them having for themselves, if only I could orchestrate such a gathering. Still alive, giants, all in one room before they pass, talking and jiving with each other with unlimited pee breaks, their favorite foods, and no deadline.
That is something I'll just have to mix up in my mind, like I do all the dead people I knew, and wish that person who died could have met the other person who died, or who may have just lived, but it is physically cosmically not possible, and that really annoys me.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I do have similar feelings about everyone who ever hated me or had bad feelings. I wish they could get in a room, from all over those years, to just puke that shit out too and I record it. I know I would learn a lot and love them for that experience, and perhaps their catharsis as well, as I do still learn from those experiences and memories that I experience(d) and hold, and they might, with hindsight, an extended consensus, realize that at each point in time, they only knew a sliver of me. That is annoying too.
The reason why this came up is that there are certain people I want to photograph before they die, Keith Jarrett being one of them. And I thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool if I could just get all of "them" together in one room before they die. And one thing led to another.
Should be a banner day, time to make some turns. Happy Friday. You are the traffic.
I wouldn't mind having another shot at some girls I passed on or didn't try hard enough for, way back when. I don't think my wife would be happy about it, though.

But in spite of it all
I'm able to grin
And think of the places my get up has been
Did you ever realize you're not in traffic? You are the traffic.

That clip annoys you?
It does not annoy me. It's a response to MTM saying "you are the traffic". What annoys me is that none of the tricks work for me to be able to quote.
Below are anticipated mid-mountain totals for the next 7 days. Keep in mind there is still a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, especially for the midweek storm that rolls in on Monday night. Additionally, especially for the weekend storm, totals will be highly elevation-dependent, meaning lower-mountain elevations will likely see far less snow than is forecasted below:
Sugar Bowl: 56–95"
Kirkwood: 52–88”
Palisades Tahoe: 50–85”
Mammoth Mountain: 30–52”
Northstar: 26–47”
Heavenly: 26–45”
Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Nevada: 23–40”
Would you like to round up the cost of your purchase so that we can use that money to make a charitable donation in our company's name and use that to offset our corporate taxes?
Fuck right off with that shit.
I have a corporate customer that pays 3% less if they pay in less than 30 days. They just instituted the policy. Like who the fuck else in this world can pull that shit? Oh, and the customer? I'll give you a hint, it is a company that most skiers hate already.
I mean, of course they get charged more every time anyway.
Ahh... the ol' quick-pay discount. Is it possible they are passing your invoice along to their customer, and being reimbursed for the full invoice amount, while not disclosing and pocketing the 3% savings?
Essentially, they wouldn't care if you jack up the price to cover the 3% cause they're passing it on to someone else.
Increase your initial price by 5%, tell them it's a new bank fee
Of course, I raised the price, more than 3%. I lose very little sleep about it.
It is just a weird concept to me that a company would just decide that they would pay you less than what you invoice because they were so generous to pay you on time.

A lot of companies behave like assholes to each other (shocker). A company I used to work for had a lot of fortune 500 level companies as customers, and more than a few of those had proprietary vendor management systems where vendors would have to log in and create the PO/invoice themselves. Without fail these systems were unnecessarily complex and if you made any mistake it would get rejected. It could drag on approval and payment for weeks or months because customer would deem that payment terms began when the invoice was approved in their system, not when software title transferred per the contract. They were basically using this to fuck with vendors. Mysteriously some invoices took a long ass time to get approved... Not sure how small vendors were able to deal with it. And yeah sometimes they would take a discount if it was paid within their system generated payment terms.

Order a beer, that’ll be $6.25, pay for beer with a $20, bartender fumbles around the cash drawer in frustration and hands me back $13 because there are no quarters. I was going to leave $1.75 as tip but throw down a dollar since I’m shorted the $.75. Mildly annoyed.
Shoulda left him $5 since you paid so fast.
