1/3/03 Hampton Coliseum - Hampton, Virginia
Set 1 (1:15): Tweezer -> Theme From the Bottom, Foam, Pebbles and Marbles*, You Enjoy Myself**
Set 2 (1:11): Birds of a Feather, Wolfman's Brother, Makisupa Policeman***, Axilla, Twist -> Free, All of These Dreams#, Possum##
Encore (0:08): Contact###, Tweezer Reprise
Notes: Show began at 8:13pm. Second set began at 10:11pm. Paul Languedoc was not manning the sound board, and Trey made a point to stop at the monitor board to speak with the engineer on his way to the stage before the first set. * - first time played; ** - with a false start (Trey stopped the band and made a comment about practicing, then re-started a moment later), and with a vocal jam based on the name "George Takei" (the actor who played Mr. Sulu on Star Trek); *** - lyric was "woke up this morning ... about 3 o'clock this afternoon... 'fatty'," and "Waffle House" and "Hooters" were mentioned in the singing toward the end of the song; # - concert debut (only previously played on Letterman); ## - toward the end, Trey hands his guitar to Page (who plays it from his normal seat, doing things like playing behind his head, etc.), Mike hands his bass to Trey, Mike picks up the "B" and "AH" cymbals (traditionally used during "Crackin' Rosie"), and the song ends; ### - Trey says: "Ladies and gentlemen, Al Gore!", also with a Page solo/breakdown and a Mike solo/breakdown. (More details will be sought on the "Possum" antics.)

1:26 in now - what a set!
I somehow have managed to not peek at any set lists tonight including ^. It was tough, and listening to the shows now it was worth it. I just moved on to the 2nd set, and man these guys have been sounding great all night! A Fuck Yeah! to all you with tix the next couple nights!
Twenty. Eight. Songs.
If I could find an extra I'd be tempted to hop a plane for Sunday night.
I miss these guys.
Sounding very nice. Great song selection overall, too. It's obvious that Trey is pretty rusty (especially on the vox,) but overall it's really just great to hear them all together making music again.
I got chills listening to the crowd in the Fluff lead-in. You can definitely feel the energy in there.
I was listening to the first set "spoiler free" (no songs listed) one hour after the show finished last night. Listened all the way through Taste in the 2nd set. They pulled out some heavy hitters last night! Twenty eight songs!:D
Looks like the server for livephish.com has crapped out. Only got half the songs downloaded so far.:cussing:
I haven't seen the Pband since 97 but I gotta admit I'm a little jealous.
Download in progress. .....or not.
WG, I have no idea where that place is, any help?
free SBDs available again at livephish.com
man, free SBD an hour after the show?
makes the old days of being stoked on daud/3s a week after a show pretty funny!
WOW.................................
fyi, you can see the set lists roll in as they happen on phish.com
first set tonight looks pretty sick so far!!!
listening to the start of the 2nd from last night on no spoilers right now. the jam on Backwards down the Number line is off the fucking hook.
i was pretty much over phish. but last nights show was ridiculous.
oh damn---> tweezer. shit what a show.
a big thumbs up to Phish for laying these shows out for free online! I'm half way through night #2 and it's just as sick!!!
"Set the gear shift for the higher gear of your soul!"
That's one of the best lyrics of all time!!! It gives me goosebumps just to type!
i'm liking the return of the original slower, more country-fied water in the sky.
Just downloaded both nights, am ready to hear them for myself. Always love a Gumbo and I think ADITL is one of the best covers they do.
Paging Rontele for any thoughts, opinions, reviews.....
Unreal. Half way through Night 2 Set 2 and its fucking off the hook. Trey is shredding. Please announce west coast dates already!!
dang. double dang.
please, please, please announce a western leg, preferably with a couple of nights at red rocks. hearing new live phish is so good. first night = incredible.
listening to night #2 right now.
PHISH. IS. BACK.
FKNA!
I am back. And mind you that these are some musings and ramblings of a very tired individual, who did not sleep last night, flew nearly across the country and is currently in the office.
Phish is back.
Just some short recaps
Friday, Set 1 was emotionally and physically intense. Their return, the bust out of Fluffhead and playing a nearly two hour set. Set II just as exhausting with everything from Taste on being the absolute heat (especially the Theme and Firsttube). Gordon's baseline in Firsttube was incredible.
Saturday, Set 1 started off pretty bad, with some miscues and bad jams (i.e., Jim). After Mexican Cousing they REALLY brought it back together and absolutely skinned the carcass off of Antelope (FKNA!!!). Set II was the set of the weekend; the Ghost was ethereal and the Mike's Groove brought down the house.
Last night was the most complete and well played of the shows. The Bathtub Gin, Tube, twist and Disease jams being the highlights. This was also the only show that really had ambient type II jamming. I need to go back and listen to the shows.
More later. But Phish is back.
Did they bust out the trampolines or do the mule dance thingie?
I am almost through the 3rd night and the sound really good-I kept waiting for some crowd signals at the start of possum-the "all fall down" was always a true test to find of a fans commitment.
I am looking forward to catching them this summer--i havent road tripped for a show in years.
They did bust out the trampolines and did the Mule dance amongst others.
I am going to download the shows tonight and give them a listen.
Another observation from this weekend:
Kuroda absolutely killed. Best lights I've seen at a show. He's got some new additions to the rig.
From what I've listened to so far, very solid and tight.
I've always liked the pre-99 stage setup more too. Glad to see they've adopted that again.
im exhausted from listening to them at my desk. jesus.
"Backwards Down The Number Line" from Night 1, Set 2 is a great tune. Reminds me of something that would have been on Farmhouse. Sort of like "Heavy Things."
I am not sure if this is public knowledge or if it has already been stated in this thread...but a certain Aramark employee has informed that they have reserved 3 nights at Red Rocks late summer... The boys are back!!!
