Got a set of Dicks fields in lotto and another 4 day pass today for a buddy.
Sat and Sun stands for Dicks
3 tix together in the pavilion for Sunday at Alpine Valley. $105 each. Nearly all of the pavilion seats I saw available were Charity Platinum at $412 each. FUCK. THAT.
I'm sure I'll find tix for Saturday at Alpine too, just may be in the dreaded lawn.
What are the chances we get a West Coast (California??) tour in the fall?
no signals in the rumors threads they are playing fall out west.
it's going to be southeast.
2x 4-day dicks fields on TM on-sale. Easiest TM on sale ever. Thanks to Sphere and Mondo.....many depleted all their cash for those.

kind of shocked dicks isn't sold out, especially with no dates out west.
sphere and mondo making it rough (a la whiterooms post)?
times are tough?
people over phish dicks in denver?
I’m over Dicks, only went Sunday past 2 years
Haven’t even thought about getting tickets
I’m kind of over Phish tbh, made it almost 30 years. I will consider Sphere if tickets find their way to me.
hell yeah westoxified, congrats on the score, super tough ticket.
all 4 nights?
surreal story. i was sitting at the Powder Keg sipping a beer, waiting for the bus and enjoying a nasty YEM that the cook was playing when i checked my email to find Dick's lotto victory notification. i decide to show the cook my Ski Gamehenge/Turquoise Mountains pin on my goggle strap. he doesn't get it. i then get on the bus and get word that i'll be headed to Vegas for all 4.
*non Phish head alert*
so like, after all the hype and the channel 5 news story and what not, I would really really love to see Phish - but at this point, is that even possible without major bullshit? is getting a ticket outside a show feasible? is there any way to not spend $300+ on a band I've never seen?
just feels like seeing Phish would be a total Bucket list item for someone who likes live music

Do it!! I highly recommend catching at least two shows in a row, but if Dick's is the closest for you then it can't hurt to see three or four. It's looking like you'll have no problem getting cheap seats in the stands ahead of traveling there. Tickets don't seem as competitive there this year.
another vote to go see phish but more importantly, enjoy the crowd. I was all nights first 9 years of dicks but only good for a show every couple years now. hell of an experience and dicks offers good sound all around. page side for shade late in day
To answer: yes, definitely go check out a show or two. They are really really fun. If you don't know anything about them, I'd start with listening to Slip, Stitch & Pass, which is a live album from 1997 that's available on all the streaming services. I am 100% a fan of the music. The scene is fun, but probably may not resonate unless you are an angsty teenager. Also, fuck the nitrous mafia. I hate that shit.
I didn't know what you meant about the Channel 5 thing, so went and searched it up. That's the funniest distillation of Phish kookery and wook behavior I've seen.
Here it is, in all its glory:

hell yeah westoxified again. what a day.
Sucks you didn't post this last year (edit: two years ago 2022) tgapp. Phish lite (trey anastasio band) played red butte in late May and is a pretty good approximation to Phish.
but phish at dicks is something else. Like the whole phish lot thing in that video goes at dicks. There really are no rules there anymore for the whole circus.
No rules you say?
Lingering Phish Tarper Still Won't Leave Spot On Field As Soccer Resumes At Dick's

Ha. These guys played my buddy’s wedding. He was friends with some of them. That was a pretty fun wedding!
I’m also kinda over Dicks, blasphemy I know. . But I’ll go again and grabbed tix this year. I cut back to 1 night in both 21/22. Ended up at all 4 last year. Every year I’m a little more torn. Wouldn’t mind if they switched it up.
getting to/from blows. not sure where else to play but yea agree switch it up. Not like there is a spot that can hold 20k people near downtown or other convenient location on the front range.
maybe if they don't sell out they may make some changes but if they sell out, why bother. Same as it ever was....
I was burned out on Dicks when camping stopped. The illusion of where I actually was set in.
It's different.
Unique visuals on every single song is difficult and expensive.
Liked:
- ambient stuff
- geometric stuff
- nature stuff (farmhouse, stars, moon, mountains). The Fall (Mikes) > Winter (lifeboy) > Spring (weekapaug) was sick. they put fire on the all the lines that went on the mountain lol
- my friend my friend video, the tv video live one was cool
- Sound was good as long as it was straight mix. Bass lines in the seats were sick as hell (haptic)
didn't like
- weird car things (hard to get down to a 20 minute tweezer to weird cars for the whole time)
- the emoji things of household objects
- shitty pixelated nature renderings in get back on the train
- When they started morphing and moving individual instruments during jams. Made them sound off tempo
- When they would put individual instruments on some kind of revolving 15 second loops that flew over you like a satelite. Hard to describe but it was just weird. Cool as fucking in a movie perhaps but in a jam it was weird.
- Line to get in from venetian was brutal - hour 10 minutes.
whatever:
- chopped up live cam video (forget song) and other random live camera shots.
at the end of the day it's really fucking hard and expensive to pull this off for any act. Takes a long time and lots of money to develop them. Then make new ones for each song and now it's expensive one offs each song. It's really hard. Sphere will have to figure out how to make the experience more turn key as time goes on. U2 fucking knocked it out of the park on video side and that's going to make it tough for bands down the road.
I thought it was a horrible under utilization of what that place should be able to do. It was just like Tony fucking up fluffhead.
They better step it up big time, or in my mind this goes down as an abject failure.
Musically, heavy hitters. Visually underwhelming per the stream.
Farmhouse visuals were cool
Mike looks fat, Fish looks slim
I was not. I was on a spinning couch. I could have gone, but, like the TX eclipse, I deemed it a silly choice.
Tonight was insaneballz. Night and day.
yeah last night looked better than night 1.
fomo is really bad when you are looking at that big lit up sphere and you know phish is inside throwing down and you aren't.

I guess this is somewhat representative of the overall experience?

That was one fucking great jam, even watching and listening on my shitty desktop PC. As someone who grew up loving 70's Fusion and Zappa it was particularly delightful.
just scored a tonight at face.
unreal luck on this one.
LFG
Damn Dude!
Any one else there ? I have a few friends from college there for Sat and tonight, another buddy there for all 4. So far they have loved it , although dude there for all was saying the 1st night took a little getting used to for bit him (in terms of what to watch band vs visuals, etc) and for the bands playing.
shit was unreal. I think I had a little too high expectations on Thurs.
I was 20th row in 100's dead fucking center last night. Some MSG industry connection hookup. no overhang (unless I was literally looking backwards)
From now forward this will be the hardest phish ticket each year. Everyone is going to want to see phish in the building. The sound is unreal, the room is incredible and the visuals are the cherry on top.
tried to post a pic here but it's fucked. sucks they won't even let you link to pics on like imgur

Could not agree more. I too snagged a last minute for the 4/20 show. The sounds is immaculate; you can focus in on each band member and hear everything. The venue is clean and well done, though needs more bathrooms for concerts. I was in the 100s with overhang obstructing about 1/2 the view. Pillow Jets jam through the fairy forest with the face melting lichen and trees to fireworks was unreal. It was a full sensory experience.
I agree with others online who have said it is a totally different experience. You aren't so much focused on the band alone and that is a change from any other concert. When it clicks and band and imagine are working together its magic. I loved catching Trey and Mike looking up at the imaging at times to get a feel for what it was doing. Even they were digging it it seemed.
Absolutely would go again. Though the demand for those 2 and 300 tickets will be even more insane in the future.
Went last night (Sunday). 250 (300?) or so shows I reckon by now.
Sound was absolutely incredible. Never heard sound that good/precise before.
Overall "experience" was amazing.
Only critique was band's playing was "just ok". If it was just a "normal" arena show it would have been 5/10. That said, I think they had to keep it somewhat within the swim lanes so as to stay consistent with the pre-planned visual experience.
That's a good point but on a 'normal' show what level of planning do they put into the setlists? Obv for themed shows (Animals set, dicks spelling sets) they plan the setlists but on a daily driver show how are they planning what they play? I think I've heard trey talk about general idea of what songs - but when it comes to jamming into something - are those planned or spontaneous?
I don't think I've seen anything that has really stood out musically in awhile - but i'll take a 5/10 phish show over any other band any day. It's still a blast - especially if you are there. They don't always hold up on tape the next day though lol.
