Vibes.
sorry man. vibes to Lopez and the rootskier family.
Vibes man. Just went through this in Feb with kids too.
Vibes man. It always sucks. Just try to remember the good times and what a great life he had. Only time will heal that wound.
Sorry to hear it. All the best.
When Hailey left us it was so hard on the kids. Samantha was encouraged to write to her when she passed, still sends her the occasional letter.
The kids are better for the furry friends even in these hard times.

Vibes. I’m sure you gave him a great life, he was lucky to have you and vice versa
And it's done.
I had the four-year-old say goodbye this morning and he just started wailing. Then he immediately transitioned to "Can we get a new one tomorrow?" Kids, man. Just bonkers.
This all would have been a lot better if my wife was around. Fuck.
Love kids responses . . . go with it . . .get one now!! This is "clear the adoption center" week - go do it!!
So sorry Root. When I lost my 7 year old pointer two years ago I swore I wouldn't get a puppy for a long time, but that passed much faster than I could have imagined. The new pup is never a replacement but helps the healing process immensely, at least it did for me.
Very tough. I know the feelings! Hang in there. Smile and remember all the good times.
Wow man that sucks. I have one getting grey and really slowing down; I know what's coming. It's not fair that they don't live longer. It seems their most lovable years are at the end; maybe a reason for that. Getting a puppy asap is definitely chicken soup for everyone in the house.
Peace be the journey Lopez.++++++++
My dog is 9 and he's really starting to hit the point where he can't do a lot of what he used to. At least not without turning into a gimp for a week or two. It makes me sad. He's always been super athletic.
I don't have a SO. I don't have kids. I lost my only sibling. We are a familial unit.
Sucks.
Plus, he keeps the black bears and shit away so it's a safety thing.
Had to put my English Setter down tonight 11.5 years old, and the best friend I ever had, best bird I’ve ever seen. Some how just couldn’t imagine he would die, but he went down tonight. Never easy to let em go. Totally gutted right now.

No friend like a dog.
I'll be broken into pieces when my Lucy goes.
Sucks, no way to prepare. Dog is loyal to the end. Leaving him at the vet for cremation seems like betrayal.

Sorry man. Root and Stowelen both. It's never gonna go away but it'll feel less like you got stabbed in the heart with some time. I've done it 5 times over the years and it doesn't get easier I'll tell you that much. Lily is 12 now and in good shape but slowing down significantly lately. Hook is 9 but he's a Bernese mix and that's getting very old for a Berner but maybe the other half will keep him going for a while, I sure hope so. The other 2 are still pretty young.
I know your right, just hard in the moment. Great dogs deserve a great memory. Thanks to you all.

Sorry man.
Nothing so good as a bird dog.

unless you are 80 years old or have terminal cancer, when you decide to get a dog, you clearly expect to outlive it.
My 14.5 old has not much time
Love her blind deaf and dumb nonetheless.
Remember the many good times, not the last pain.
So, when your heart was broken in high school or college, the guaranteed way not to have that happen is to not open your heart.
But if you open your heart, life is better
Right, looked back through my hunting journals, and remembered how good he was. He was the king and that’s all that matters. Long live the king.
