Just outside of Phoenix... Social distancing...
We started this trip before everything started shutting down and have had to change our plans a little. No Lego Land or other attractions, but have been able to spend a bunch of time together outdoors and sleeping in the camper. Not sure if we would be safer at home or not - our exposure to people is pretty limited here as it would be at home - maybe better as we don't know anybody and don't have the pressure of seeing friends or coworkers. We're having fun at least.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bbf2b3d90c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ba66653ab3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...090bf65352.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1d7e3c095b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...30f20bd7e9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6aa4b4d38a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...62bbff025f.jpg

From the other night. Caught a break in the storm and went for it.

This place is a total shit show most days with "hikers" waiting in hours long lines to get their picture taken on this rock. With some rain I had it all to myself....

^ probably my favorite chip shot of all time. Those pic lines are insane for reals.

Cool ride yesterday up Lawson Peak
http://www.habventures.com/photos/01...0/IMG_0086.jpg
Started at a different trailhead and rode in. It was packed everywhere, and these are what I consider to be less known trailheads. Probably 50 cars at one of them.

Nice ride descending through some oak forest to get to the climb. Those strands behind the post are all poison oak
http://www.habventures.com/photos/01...0/IMG_0096.jpg
On to the climb. The forest service converted this jeep trail into non motorized singletrack a couple years ago. Sucks for the ohv crowd. Good for MTB

The hikers have found it. Never saw a hiker here before. Today, tons of them. FS did a pretty good job. It will be nice once some plants grow in

Rode out past the peak on the jeep trail a couple miles. Cool terrain and awesome views

Crazy lighting at sunset

Went for a ride around McDowell mountain yesterday evening. I was pushing daylight a bit so threw in a few lights. Those can't into handy as at the top of the climb (thankfully the top), my freehub stopped engaging on forward pedaling. My bike became and a really expensive full suspension scooter. I had just put in my lights so spent the next hour and a half coasting, scooting and walking out.
Thankfully I had cell service, water, clothes, food and everything I needed. It was a beautiful ride nonetheless, and the walk out wasn't too bad.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2aa545c55d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...db12b6cb39.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...81d0273299.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c27984d43f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2916a8b012.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...54248afa12.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d8b0da9820.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2ec2278fcc.jpg

Nothing better than the desert in bloom. McDowell brings back memories of the 24 hour races there. I could do that loop blindfolded.
Beautiful, Seth!
What hub, if I may ask?
It's a reynolds TR hub. The bike shop took a look and it looks like the pawls and ring are in good shape, but the ring is rotating in the hub.
I got a great hookup and am hoping that I can get this covered under warranty. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to salvage the next two weeks of this trip as my bike is currently not rideable...
Seth
Seth try Over the Edge in Sedona. Our buddy Micheal there will help you if he can. Tell him the teton valley crew sent you.

Went for some more backcountry riding yesterday. El Cajon Mtn is one of the more visible peaks from much of central and south San Diego and sits above a granite wall named El Capitan. There is a trail out to the peak above that wall that makes for a great once-every-few-years acquired taste beatdown. It's a tough ride or hike. Or in my case, ride and hike.
That is the trail in the middle there. Just a little steep. And this trail truly is uphill in both directions.

Ditched the bike 1/2 mi below the summit and hiked the rest. Up top the trail is marked with green posts every 20 ft. Guess some people have trouble following an obvious trail?

Great view looking SE. The taller peak in the middle is where I was the day before

Looking west under darkening skies. Despite a couple tough climbs on the way down I was back at the truck in an hour, just as it started raining. Sucks to be any of the hikers I passed on the way down! Hardest 12mi ride I'll do this year. Not the best ride but worth it for the views and the cool terrain.

sorry it's sideways :(
We've been digging our faces off at 5th Street. By the end of the week we should have something like 9 different jump/landing combos in one 100ft by 100 ft area. One advantage to school being canceled is there are strong young backs to help dig.

Being cooped up together in a camper takes it's toll on relationships so the oldest and I got an evening ride together by ourselves.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...02562104c3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1eb1deb058.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8cbac9bf73.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...785120cf55.jpg
