Bail?
Third degree murder and manslaughter.
Only if you count cops who refuse to narc on the illegal actions of their co workers are the vast majority "good at their jobs".
If those guys who cover up wrong doing and allow illegality to go unreported are not good at their jobs, then I stand by my previous assertion.
I'll believe in good cops when they start arresting the bad cops.
What changes one's opinion a lot of times is an event that occurs to you or someone close to you.
I used to give cops a lot of credit given their job and experiences with assholes. Their experiences shape their opinions.
My experience with cops when I've needed them has shaped mine.
Its a racket business. Their intent is to get as many in the system and lock you up. For profit prisons/privatization = police state. Conservatives were trying to float that up here and got their asses tossed

So from the last 24 hrs theres
-police drive by pepper spraying protesters In Minneapolis
-police arresting a CNN camera crew In Minneapolis
-police opening a moving car door into a protester in Brooklyn
-police firing pepper bullets at a news crew in Louisville
what the fuck? Do they not care there are cameras everywhere anymore?
How do you make an asshole from a pussy?
Give him a badge and a gun.
Have not read 142 pages so apologies if the history of modern policing have been discussed. Basically, the way I understand it, they were (have been?) hired goons to keep factory workers in check and, of course, slave patrols.

quote from the link above:
“Fears of labor-union organizers and of large waves of Catholic, Irish, Italian, German, and Eastern European immigrants, who looked and acted differently from the people who had dominated cities before, drove the call for the preservation of law and order, or at least the version of it promoted by dominant interests.”
I don't know about you guys but the tension, vibe, and overall sentiment in this country leaves me feeling like there's going to be a reckoning of sorts, and this is just the beginning.
I'm not advocating violence nor do I think it'll be the catalyst... It's merely a symptom of the continual deterioration of the fabric of our culture.
Shit is changing very quickly in 2020 and all I know is we'll come out of it a different country. People have been direct witness to a totally inept federal government led by a sociopathic dolt; the have-nots have been even further marginalized while corruption in both the political and justice arenas are no longer abstract issues but tangible and irrefutable.
Local and State governments have largely gained credibility throughout this crisis, exacerbated by the inept federal level, which only widens the chasm. Differences by state are under the spotlight and our worst tendencies as a self involved, entitlement-minded citizens have made the concept of a collective good a distant memory.
Interesting times ahead, for sure. Zero chance Trump leaves office quietly, either in January or in 2024. Our adherence to the very core values that once made this country a role model are under enormous strain.
As Buster said, the age of the Asshole is very much upon us.
"Schism"
I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lover's souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication
I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame, it doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication
The poetry that comes from the squaring off between
And the circling is worth it
Finding beauty in the dissonance
There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow and strengthen our communication
cold silence has
A tendency to
Atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers
Between supposed lovers
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
As an aside, I hope that officer gets turned inside out, slowly. All these protests in their myriad forms are the healthiest thing I've seen out of this country in a long time.
This redneck speaks the truth.

Rev nails it. If things are going to change this is the right time for it to happen. I'm curious to watch it happen but concerned about where we end up.
This is interesting. Blumenthal is quite the social critic. Good eyes.

A reminder to Democrats: after the 1968 riots and the broader explosion in crime that followed-> Republicans won five of the next six Presidential elections (would have been all six if not for Watergate). CIVIL UNREST AND CRIME ARE TERRIBLE FOR PROGRESSIVE POLICIES.
Man it was sickening watching the video. Floyd goes unconscious, the bystanders are yelling this, and the cop just sits there, knee on neck, hands in pockets, his partner keeping his back to the murder facing down the bystanders screaming that the man has gone unconscious.
3rd degree murder seems like a slam dunk.
Now can we talk about Breonna Taylor? Police pull a wrongful no-knock raid in the middle of the night looking for a guy who was already arrested and in custody! They don't announce themselves, 3 officers in plainclothes (no uniforms and conveniently no body cams) bust into an apartment, residents defend themselves against apparent home invaders, and the police shoot Breonna, an EMT, 8 times, murdering her, and arrest and charge her boyfriend with attempted murder of police officers!
FBI is investigating the police.

Qualified immunity has to go.
No knock warrants have to go.
Body cams for all police.
Civil asset forfeiture has to go.
Us vs them police culture has to go.
This is scary: https://twitter.com/JoyAnnReid/statu...163389952?s=19
Yup. Wissia!!!
Lulz.
PS Joy Reid is a homophobic liar.
No knock warrants suck
They always do it early am. Just to fuck shit up.
And so many of them are not worth the risk
Just pigs out of control.
