I went to a place at the top of 1 Time Square in late 1989 called Nirvana. It was two levels with the top level being more of a proper club with a beautiful view behind where the bands played. Go downstairs and anything goes..

Stale cigarettes lay a lock on the nose on entry. The floor is either sticky or covered in peanut shells and candy wrappers. A sparse configuration of appropriate cheesy neon advertising statements. All beaten wood booths and bar, 100+ years old (laugh Yrup). The booths with years of carved graffiti, ceiling as well with markers. Shitty pool tables with funny bumpers in all the spots only the locals know. The usual hangers on, smoking, half with an obvious drug problem. Cheap beer, both a neolithic stout or some sharp, flowery, beer skeet IPA. Then there's always the girls. Some great cheek here and there, but, yeah, it's a ficticious bar.
How about The Regal Beagle?
Straight fiction?
