Harry’s Heart Surgery Thread
I have spent the last hour or so sending out text messages to friends letting them know that tomorrow I am having heart surgery. I realized that I have over 100 maggot phone numbers. So over the years I have skied or fly fished with over 100 of you. Rather than send out a lot of texts, I started this thread to notify my friends.
I’m 63 and for several years I have been suffering declining health. 5 years ago while skiing I suffered what at the time was diagnosed as a heart attack, although after more testing they determined it was not really a heart attack, but some other unknown cardiac problem. My main issue is very low oxygen levels. At 7,500 feet where I lived in Big Sky I measured 82 to 85 percent. A healthy person should be 95-99 percent. I have been tested and tested and tested ever since, and despite rapidly declining health, nothing concrete has been found. Until yesterday.
Yesterday I was at the Bozeman hospital getting a cardiac test that has now become routine for me. And this time they found a big problem. Tomorrow they operate.
The doctor has assured me that this is a routine surgery, he does this all the time. But a big unknown is if this is what is causing my problems, or if this was caused by my other problems. Only time will tell.
A big shout out to several maggots who are springing into action at short notice. Talisman will be providing aftercare this weekend. He will be stationed in the hospital parking lot and will take care of me after I am discharged. Also thanks to Whiteroom Guardian who is going to take care of some personal business for me. Like Talisman, he leapt into action no questions asked. What a great community we have here.
I’m pretty emotional right now. Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow. I will update when I can.
