Manfred must love slow pitch softball because he seems intent on bringing some of those rules to MLB.
This starting extra innings with a runner on 2B was a slow pitch softball rule I first played back in the 90s.
Just waving a batter to 1B instead of throwing 4 wide ones on a IBB is another one that Manfred borrowed from the beer league.
So a couple others we can expect to see in the next couple years:
Hit a HR over the fence and just trot back to the dugout. Takes too much time to actually circle the bases. Pace of play, right?
Start the AB with a 1-1 count. 3 balls take your base & 2 strikes yer out.
Timed games. Slow pitch is 65 or 70 min, MLB could go with 2 hrs, no new inning can begin after the clock shows zero.
And for the All Star Game, they should put a keg by 2B. Gotta stop and have a beer on your way around the bases.
