You choose: Bottomless or Blower?
Three days ago the pow was deep--but, so heavy and wet that even on some of the steep slopes in Mineral many people got completely stuck and had to work themselves out and down the runs. I had my 130 shovels and still got nailed down on a couple of runs. But... it was bottomless. And, it was phenomenal on certain facings.
4Teef's post about today's pow was the other extreme: 15" of blower so fine it's as if you're just skiing through slightly dense air. With this type of snow, even though it's swirling all around you--feels and looks like amazing pow--it can ski like dust on crust and be, well, not so fun.
Obviously, the stand-out powder days are those rarest of rare days when the stars and planets align, the heavens open, and we get the combination of blower pow AND bottomless pleasure.
However, since it is more common to have conditions such as today and Tuesday, which would you rather have?
If you had to have one or t'other, would you rather experience bottomless, even if much of the time you feel like oatmeal might be easier to ski, or, would you rather ski through vapor, hitting more than a few of yesterday's bumps and occasionally losing an edge? Just wondering....
