there's never been one that i know of...
The ramps are owned and run by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. They are on the private man-made water ski lake on the left as you drive into town from the east. I can't remember the name of the guy who owns the lake, but he has a couple of kids in the SSWSC and he rents the land to the club for $1 a year. As a result I don't think they are open to the general public because of liability issues, but you can always call the club and ask. If they shoot you down let me know, I have a couple of friends who coach the freestyle skiers and they may be able to help you out.
Awesome! I'll try and get a hold of them today and let you know. Thanks!
where exactly is this man made water ski lake and are we talking about the same kind of water ramps here?Quote:

If you are going west on hwy 40, from Rabbit Ears, just after you pass the Shop n Hop and before the log church there are a couple of HUGE mounds of rock and dirt between the road and the river surrounding the lake. It was big news a couple of years ago in town because the guy who owned the land wanted to sell it to the city for a new high school. That fell apart because it's in a flood zone, so he decided to build some houses there. The city refused to annex the property (to provide city water and sewer) so he said "Oh yeah? Fuck you, I'm going to build a private lake and leave big ugly mounds of dirt at the entrance to Steamboat."
Now a bunch of local big shots (who shall remain nameless) and their friends are the only people who are allowed to use the lake, besides the SSWSC kids on the jumps.
They have inverted and upright ramps.
thanks for clearing that up. never knew anything about it, i guess mainly because they can't be seen from the road.
do you live in town? what do you do?
i still have lots of friends there and show up a couple times a year. hope to be back someday...
This might prove interesting.
I lived there until a couple of years ago, but now I'm on the Front Range. When I was in Steamboat I worked all over town, but now I have a "real" job and visit as often as possible.
water ramps? duuuuuude, i want some of that!!!
keep us posted blurred with any info.
Steamboat? I'm definitely in - love to get a back layout dialed and I'm skeered to try it on snow...
Hopefully a typical Colorado Crew TR follows. "I rule, you fucking suck, you're all gay homos".Quote:

Yeah, I can't think of one CO maggot who's ever polluted a thread like that--what were you thinking, BB?Quote:

If you look carefully as you are driving by you can see the pond and a jump from the road. The run in kinda looks like a top soil pile for construction, only much higher.Quote:

I'm definitely not as much of a man as yourself, Summit. Perhaps I'll just go hide behind a camera.
Anyways, I'm done with my cunting of this thread. I hope those water ramps turn out to have public usage. The ones out here are ghetto, but fun. Not having bubbler systems hurt.
I'd just about guarantee that SheRa has thrown wayyy bigger front flips than you EVER have. That's if you've ever done one.Quote:

I loved seeing the junk you guys were throwing earlier this winter. Gave me a good laugh!
Keep up the junk!
