And rig everything, right?
Not a lot of loading or carrying but really good riggers. Can’t wait to get to that point.
I'm there times ten, I just have to keep the old crew in check not to get too high to stay in the boat.
I used to pick them up from their drunken stuppors, now, all they want is trippy music from the bluetooth speaker that they don't even understand, and everything to be done just like they would have done it 20 years ago.
Well, at the first sight of uncle gusty, guess who's on the oars, and guess who is nestled down in a cuddle puddle?
Getting STOKED!
Likewise! 🤙🏼
Thanks for this thread and your contributions. Helped me plan and put together a new 14’ trib. So much fun on our shakedown trip.

Grand Ronde is a nice little float. Good looking setup.
Just off the Salmon...what a float. More details to come but a highlight was having a jet boat rocket past and Conundrum screaming my name out a couple times once he saw the boat. My crew was flabbergasted. That was awesome, thx Nate. Hope you had a great float too. Pics to follow.
Thought I'd put some pics up from our trip. We rowed, ate, camped, drank, traveled, cribbaged, foraged, and hiked well. Great trip all around. Not much blood, sunburns, or hangovers. One outbreak of poison ivy and lessons were learned. The only bummer was getting a text from Tap probably right as he got back into service while I was still on the river. Came home to get his text and then read his news. It really made me reflect how lucky we are 99.9% of the time...going on great trips and coming home. That 0.1% that he experienced has to be awful but he'll get through it. He's a tough dude.
More pics.
Three more.
Hi all,
I'm currently in the market to purchase my first sit-in kayak, and have finally narrowed it down to three. I'm hoping some of you can help me narrow those options down to one.
What I want to do - I'm a casual kayaker, with three specific areas of interest:
1. Wildlife photography
2. Enjoying the quiet of nature
3. A little fishing
For these reasons, I need a stable and relatively dry kayak. I'm 6'1" and 225lbs, so a larger cockpit would be nice (and obviously a nice seat).
My budget is up to $800, and I've narrowed it down to the following kayaks:
1. Old Town Vapor 10 Angler
2. Old Town Dirigo 106 Angler
3. Ascend FS10 Angler
Can anyone provide me with some real world advice on these choices to help me narrow it down? Thanks much for your advice...
The red one, JONG.
Sweet pics Cdrum!
This spring I mounted an NRS highback swivel seat on my drybox so my wife would be more comfortable. It's great. I suppose I'll replace my rowing seat eventually with a highback although it's never bothered me as is, and it's easier to climb over when moving around. Those seats aren't cheap.

Imma get my girl one of those seats for her boat
puts some ducketts into the super puma rubbers this season
i have a range of frame bars and can configure to seat and fish front and back with or without flooring 4 or 5 bay
best monies was the bar mounted flip seat and a draining highback seat
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds
so much better than mounting a seat onto the dry box that just interfers with fully opening the dry box and way better rowing and comfort for my old man ass than sitting flat on a padded cooler or drybox
works on a cooler or dry box although my yeti 105 is too tall unless i wanted to go 12" towers
it usually goes up front but a 45 or bigger will do for day trips or an overnighter with another beverage cooler im limited to 32" without side rubbing
a foot bar, 2 dre captains bags alongside the rowers seat on a 26" 14"x18" fp drybox
a 14" bay behind that with a ammo can slings and/or a water jug sling
to an everything/santa bag strapped to the rear frame
and the anchor mount off that
decking to walk and strap ammo cans to
if theres fishin involved a mag rotomolded the lockable front rod case with pvc tubes
that will unbolt if not needed
need to replace the bimini top that got chundered in a flip
and id like to go with modified ammo cans for more waterproof space on a suspended floor vrs the captains bags although pelicans in the bags gits it done
rubbers bout toast will probably go 14' next year but frame should still work

nice stoke and rigs in this thread
you aints gotta wait till next summers
were floatin and partying on the green at bobmclandia weekend after this one
and id bet theres room for another boat on the underoos annual family post labor day sept 6-9 trip come on over
if the relationship survives a meet the maggots trip well.....
can’t do the green that weekend
could maybe do the other
the situation lends itself to some time and patience
she can handle maggots for sure, no worries there
The bar-mount seat didn't really work for me although I considered it. I actually don't mind having the seat mounted on the dry box, it still opens 90 degrees which is plenty, and it actually makes opening the lid much easier because the weight of the seatback makes it almost automatic. I'm happy with it and my wife no longer says "everybody on the river has a seat but me." lol
I can run a boat in Class 2
I can also get into trouble
I’m stoked to get into boating again
If there is a better thread for this, feel free to suggest it, I'm still learning the search function.
Metal dry box question:
Has anyone ever tried using any sort of spacer underneath the tabs a metal dry box hangs on to raise it up a little more? I would like to be able to experiement with mine in the realm of 0.5"-1.5" before possible having them re-welded.
I was thinking maybe 3/4" marine plywood or even 3d printing possibly?
Cheers
