Not much different than most dogs riding in cars, and I wouldn't want to attach a passenger to the bike, as having 500+ pounds of motorcycle land on you rarely makes things better.
That said, I'd be nervous as heck with a dog behind me, until I was convinced the dog was happy and also that he wasn't likely to get distracted and try to jump off. I don't currently have a functional motorcycle, but I do have a 20-pound dog with whom I'd be tempted to try if the bike didn't need an engine first. I'd be more comfortable with a sidecar rig, even with the dog behind me, because at that point I'd feel much better about attaching him (and making sure the attachment was short enough to keep him from dragging on the ground if he did jump for it).
