I think I recall a blurb in a paper early this summer saying the owner of the heli Sam flew just lost BC court of appeal to avoid extradition to the US for charges related to that incident 8yrs ago.

don't fret y'all - this here thread is beginning to auto rotate
Sounds like you need either an R22 or a CH47. Could go either way.
You better embrace the toe-in if you want the access to gnar.

I've loaded and unloaded slings for a local pilot who had been pilot of the year and his skills were awesume
he would put a load of lumber down right there and I would realize the load was too heavy for him to hover and cuz he had burned fuel on the way up the 206 had been even heavier when he took off
he was always taking off or landing loads that he couldn't hover with
Just hurry up and make up your mind already. That new corner office is really cutting into your productivity.

I've got an extra AS-350B2 I'm looking to sell for under $1M.
PM me.
350B will run $600K - $1.7M depending on TTSN and TSMOH. New - forget about it. An older 206B can be had for <$500k, but is likely too much in maintenance. Go for a new, light single turbine - either a R66 (US$900k) or the new Bell 505 Jet Ranger X (US$1.1M). The Bell has better performance characteristics for mountain flying, but the R66 will get you there if your operating in lower altitudes (eg. coastal ranges). Pretty good for DIY heliski machines.
I'd stay away from a piston machine, it likely won't get you where you want to be - and certainly not with 5 people on board.

Just get the AS350. Anything else is just ghetto and sends the message to your peers that you're having financial issues. How could you ever live that down? It's bad enough that you still think skiing is more important than money and image. Don't compound the problem by appearing weak and cheap. That could cost you in the long run.
Edit: Get the B series for the extra fuel capacity/range. You might think you don't need more than 350 mile range but that illusion will be shattered the first time you need to leave the goods early due to low fuel supply. It would be foolish to limit yourself over a couple $100K.
Hmmmmm
Did op ever buy a heli?
Hmmmmm
Is the pilot slinging Christmas trees still working?
