She became a hero of mine when she took on CIA and the torture establishment.
It's too bad she kept her seat a little too long.
Her bio is worth a look, even if you didn't like her politics.

I liked when she flew a confederate flag outside city hall in 1984. It made a lot of sense.
She didn't fly it. It was a little more complicated then that.

I heard the news just boosted contributions to her re-election campaign.

An incredible legacy ruined by greedy, self-serving staff and family members.
Embodied the Democrat conundrum: can one serve both the people and an addiction to power?
Poly ass mutherfucker!
Do you speak it?
Too old to navigate to the hidden forum where such things belong??
Well shit. I had no idea. But in her defense it’s more complicated. Kinda like her succeeding Harvey milk.

Maybe we should have a dedicated RIP thread where all you geriatrics can go and immortalize your peers? It's getting frequent now.
would this thread have tabs?
While Feinstein certainly hung on too long--the tragedy of dementia is that one cannot know one has it--experience in politics is greatly undervalued. It is a profession like any other and our fondness for electing Washington outsiders--whether governors, half-term Senators, or reality show actors--has not served us well.
Addiction to power? A politician without it is like an actor not addicted to attention or a priest not addicted to god--unlikely to be any good at their job. The greatest American President--greatest in the sense of having the most influence on our lives today whether you agree with his policies or not--served 3 terms and part of a 4th. While he declined to run for a second full term the President who signed two of the greatest--perhaps THE greatest--laws in our history--the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts (not necessarily happily) was certainly addicted to power. OTOH his predecessor, an inexperienced young Senator, began his term with the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion, which a more experienced leader might have quashed.
Maybe reaction scores too? Or is that asking too much of the server(s)?
Do we have 1 or 2?
Weekend at Diane's. She probably will get re-elected if they put her name on the ballot.
Grim Reaper term limits.
Sooner would have been bettah
Que the meme parade.
Did she miss out on free coffee day?
Reading between the lines and hints.
Sounds like you love LBJ. Fuck that asshat.
I have grown to love JFK. Didn’t like him as a kid. Womanizer. Son of a bootlegger. Bay of pigs week three. But I doubt that was his plan. Probably why he became anti cia
But killed operation north woods among other shitshow cia bullshit. Probably why they killed him.
^^^^ the irony is strong with this one.
This is not the polyass you are looking for
PS. Fucking nuke this thread. She’s dead.
She’s still insisting on finishing her term.
All the ass millinery aside she was one bad ass bitch. Not perfect, not a saint, but got shit done.

I remember how she stepped up when Moscone and Milk were shot.
More currently, her office was helping us obtain a grant to build housing for homeless and foster kids that attend a charter school in SoCal. Project now in limbo.
RIP

I feel like these people who hang around too long should have their legacies trashed. I don’t care what you did 30 years ago, I care that your ego kept you in power for at least 6 years too long. If anything is going to curb politicians hunger for power it is the knowledge that their legacy will be judged very harshly for hanging around too long.

I was on a zoom call with her 2 years ago. She was the only one not on camera. We all introduced ourselves and she commented that she could hear me so well. This was because I was the only person using a landline (cuz my bandwidth sucks). Everybody else was using their computer audio.
She had some weird influences on several projects that I worked in over the years. Either because of the project relations to strong supporters of her’s and at least one seemed very related to a position that her husband held as a UC Regent.

$80+ million net worth......we are the little people.
Ya, but how much of that is a house or two? If she had a nice pad in SF that was purchased decades ago, that's not very hard to get to double digits millions. Yes, I am a little people compared to that. I'm not defending or criticizing her, just pointing out that net worth these days probably deserves an asterisk due to hyper inflated real estate values in many markets.
Hmmmmm...JFK prolly hit it.
You woulda too.
