Why all the suicides if everything is going so well in Murica?

sooner or later, world population will start to decrease rapidly when people don't have children as retirement insurance and automation will free people from labor

I don't know of anyone who "has children as retirement insurance". I do, however, know several people who pulled their parents out of assisted living in to their brink of forclosed homes so they could use the parents' social security and pensions to keep their homes and leach off the parents' retirement.

These are folks who took on big student loan debt for advanced degrees that no longer hold value in the job market.. Several of them are teachers..

i'm talking about third world nations...

first world countries are population neutral or negative from birth rates and increase from immigration

yeah the "adults" have been handling things so well. i'm a stay at home dad just like my mom was a stay at home mom. i have plenty of other obligations but if you want to give me free money i'll check it out.

And generally I am more in favor of GMI over UBI.

Already tried that.. Quite a few min wage workers also qualify for SNAP food stamps and housing assistance along with Medicaid.. or used to until you know who gave all that General Welfare money to his rich friends..

GMI usually has other tests besides citizenship, such as means testing. UBI usually just has citizenship as the qualifier. That's the tl:;dr version.

Ya, I suppose if you close one eye and squint the other, our system might have approximated that, sort of, not very well. However it wasn't a formal GMI in name and anyway, the rate was way too low.

My best friend blew his brains out with a shotgun when we were teenagers.

His parents wanted him to follow in Dad's footsteps and become a doctor, he wanted to play heavy metal bass.

For maximum damage he pulled the trigger standing on the bed of their well appointed master bedroom.

It's taken me decades to get over that act and I've always had an unresolved frustration because I thought it was a cowardly and selfish. So much potential lost because parents expectations overwhelmed a kid just wanting to do their own thing.

Then it clicked, I have never felt this kind of desperation, I should stop feeling angry, sad or depressed over someone following their free will.

If we (the gumberment) pay people extra money and bennies like food stamps who are working full time but not making a livable wage then are we subsidizing the minimum wage worker or the company that employs them?

Many companies could afford to pay livable wages if they paid CEOs less...

This judge can get fucked. My father was helped by the death with dignity law and my grandfather would have been but he took care of it on his own. In my dad's case it was related to ALS and in my grandpa's case it was related to the fact that there was no way in hell they were going to put him in a home.

Lithuania! That amazed me. My wife was Lithuanian, and a lot of her friends are. I wouldn’t have guessed, but I guess that’s what all the current articles are saying.
