It's only when you clock the guy standing in the chute to the left that you get some idea of the scale of this sucka.
True. I was first thinking 'yeah, looks like a nice lil' one to do'...obvioysly not.Quote:

Roo - you've prolly seen both this one and TrifideIII in LaGrave in nature? How does that Mammoth shoot compare to the III?(not that I'm going to jump it though...:) And PS. the good news is that I'm most likely going to visit LG again this year...but more on that later in the Summit part of the forum...)
I'd say the Mammoth air is bigger but the consequences in TrifidesIII are a bit more serious. I've never had the conditions/local knowledge at the time/testicular girth to hit either of them though. ;)
Yep. I've heard it alternately referred to as the Pencil and the Pinner. Just like the Mendenhall over to the right, the Pinner/Pencil is rarely in condition, and climbing from the bottom is highly recommended. :eek:Quote:

I've seen couple of 'big boys' hit it...a border and two skiers...the boarder cleared the gap, just slightly, had a nice grab in the air and did just a small butt check and continued like that was his regular warm up run :) ...the skiers on the other hand went huuuge but splashed also as huge.
Those guys are very good skiers and the other one complained even couple of years later that he still have to pay some dues (I guess back problems) for that (mentioned) huck and the yardsale after it!
Thanks for the answer by the way...I just wanted some comparison, cause I've always wondered how would the trifidesIII look on the inrun of the drop...and how would I feel there if I would be crazy enough to try that sucka...(not very likely at all but still sometimes it's nice to play some mind games:))
The pic of the day over at Biglines... ;)
[QUOTE=Superstar Punani]This was the first day that the Aiguille du Midi was open, with the exit tunnel not quite clear of snow and ice. The only people up here were sightseeing tourists and skiers who, with their guides, would rope down the trecherous Arete knife edge to a safe spot and put on their skis.
It's crazy, I have a shot looking up from the bottom of the Arete. It looks like cake. However, I remember when I got down my hand was frozen from hanging on to the rope so tightly.
I'll have to get a scan of the "Zone tres Dangerous" knife edge from LGM. That scared me poopless.

Is this Snowbasin? I think I've skied the side where your tails are facing.
I'm not sure about the previous picture. I do know that the following picture is from Snowbasin.
