Oar are not an April Fools joke, just a concept ski that Rowen has been wanting to build. His explaination can be read here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater.
They do have subtle base convexity in the tips and tails which was a prelude to everything we have been working on for...
the new 12/13 Pillowfight.

It remains totally flat for most of the running length, so still gives you are 100cm of flat, stable, and carveable sidecut underfoot.
Then the convexity drastically jumps up right past the end of the sidecut and progressively decreases as you approach the tips, which is pretty close to flat again (in both tip and tail, with the convexity being more intense in the tips). There remains a flat section that runs the full length of the ski.
Then in the tail, we've added some camber to the rockered section which results in a super poppy tail that is a ton of fun (this was actually featured in the first pillowfights we ever prototyped as well).
Super, super excited to now have the capability to start pressing skis this way. We are still working on making it manageable to finish and bring everything up to speed from a production vs prototyping standpoint.
This isn't a final design, either, just for clarification purposes. We still have a lot of prototyping and design to work on, so right now our fingers are crossed that it is going to keep snowing in the PNW for awhile longer. Looks like it for at least the immediate future.
