Agreed, very beautiful & incredibly light and can be very sturdy. My brother built a cedar strip kayak with a fiberglass/epoxy coating that survived a 200 day, 9300 km river/lake expedition. It's light enough to easily carry with one hand so it made portages a breeze.Quote:

I am working on a project for longtime good friends (as in, I lived with her all through college and I have been good friends with him since they started dating). When they bought this house, the living room was divided by a wall from the kitchen/dining area. This was the first order of business. We knocked down the wall and I cut a couple timberframe bents to replace it. I think they work well with the existing 3x10 ceiling joists and t&g ceiling.
I also installed the prefinished 3/4" solid maple flooring. I am pretty jealous of their house now, the space has an awesome feel, sort of like a western loft type of thing.
Next up is the guest shower (going to waterproof (Kerdi) the walls tonight). Their previous house is under contract and when that is done we are going to do a new master bath and the new cabinets will be ordered. We still need to do a bunch of trim (obviously) and they need to pick out some stone/tile for the areas near the doors and in front of the woodstove.

Some nice stuff and variety in here. I'm just finishing up a ski cabin in VT I started three years ago (probably would have finished it in two years if I hadn't wasted so much time on TGR!). It had 25 abandoned cars, tons of trash and a squatter. It's been a lot of work, but I loved doing it... this will be the first ski season we can actually use it... yahoo!

Jack and I did the foundation and the framing, Sutton and I did the siding, and I did all the drywall by my lonesome. The best part is that it's affordable housing, so I know someone will actually live there, unlike most of the time when I know the second homeowner will only be there for a couple of weeks a year.

Thanks. That is the only boat I have built and it took about 6 months. It's 17'-6" long and weighs about 37 lbs. I was made to be used so I dont mind if it gets scraped up a bit. A little light sanding and a fresh coat of varnish and its brand new again.Quote:

No, you don't have to use the panels BD, especially if you go for an all wood (t&G) "sheathing". Talk to those guys regarding what you want to accomplish and they should send you in the right direction. I'll pm you some panel links of companies I've used. They make sense on big jobs, but if yur doing the work yourself and want to save some money, there are alternatives.
Built this and put in the slider with my Dad two weekends ago, definitely stoked on the results.
