Tomorrow gonna be a shit show with the first powder panic of the season plus limited terrain. I’ll prob still go
Biggest storm of the year. Bell opened at 11:30. No crowds today. Tomorrow will be bananas.

What a pretty sight.
Snowmass's is opening Sams Knob tomorrow, so some of you should go there.
Ajax…everyone go to Ajax. Soooo much more terrain open.Quote:

You shushhh. We are going to get like 10 more of these storms this season with 6 of them being bigger!

I had the weather channel on while working out and they just happened to do a segment on Aspen-Glennwood Springs with the live cams for the base of Aspen Ajax (as well as a traffic cam shot of dwntwn Glennwood Springs) and all I could think about is why am I not there right now.
Looks tasty and I hope all you RFV Mags get some turkey and stuff your faces with some cold smoke pow.
Well that was awesome

Biggest storm here I can remember.
Without a doubt. Decks were clear on Monday night, last night when I got home around 10pm I shoveled 2+ feet and there’s another 5-6ish out there this morning. That just doesn’t happen around here and the fact that this is going on in November is even more incredible

It will certainly take them some time to get it all groomed and pushed around.
Great start to the season that will hopefully get terrain opened earlier than usual.

Longest gondy line I’ve seen. I bailed and will try again later this afternoon.
Ajax is fucked crowded and skied out, wouldn’t advise coming. Got out early for 2-3 killer deep runs but holy shit where did all these people come from
I'd be interested to here ya'lls take on this.
Early season anyone and everyone?
School is closed?
IKON day trippers?
Thanksgiving outta towners?
Or has the RFV fallen like everywhere else where them are enough resident that have a flexible enough schedule that every powder day is like this now?
I think a combo of everything but mainly so little terrain and lifts open. Plus if there’s a day this year to be “flexible” with work, this is it since nobody’s doing shit. Plus lots of kids back from break etc
They didn’t open anything additional by the time I left at 2ish. Lines died quick though so shoulder of bell laps stayed nice
I think that was the deepest snow I’ve seen in aspen though, despite being on the heavier side. Spots in the trees it was legitimately waist deep standing still with big skis on
Little of everything described. Not as many backpack wearing ikoneers as I would have thought, but a zoo out there nonetheless.
Took a 1 and done run. It was amazing, but too many people. Just excited we get to ski early, whatevs. Happy thanksgiving everybody!
We have limited terrain on 2/4 mountains, maybe a few percent, with a MONSTER report. There are hundreds of SkiCo employees that aren't scheduled yet, all the schools in the valley are out, and a mob of midwestern ski teams here to train. Plus all of the above. Have we fallen victim, sure, if it's to an early opening with a historic storm immediately following.
I was cooked from yesterday and went to bed at 8. Woke up at 2:30 and made the mistake of looking at the snow cam.
Busted out a trail to my hot tub, which was the hardest it's ever been. Tried to take the hounds for a bike ride, but it was just way too deep, even on the main roads.
I was agonizing over a possible delayed opening at Aspen for control work or hitting Snowmass, for Sams Knob opener.
Saw the Road Grader plow my road at 6:45 and I hit the road on, perfectly plowed, empty roads, into Aspen.
I got 2nd bucket. Mag Skideepow(MR),Hanle and I were the first across Sunny Side.
We didn't want to go back to the Gondi, because Pete told us the weren't opening the return skiers line up for a while. So we did three laps on Ajax Express, then a totally untracked run down the Shoulder.
Skiers return was walk on singles line for two laps and then we went to a 10:45 lunch.
Got back to the Gondi at 11:30 and the skier return line was now getting big. Hanle and I were pretty worked from being first couple of chairs everyday and called it.
I had to drive back to Snowmass anyhow, so I looked at the app. Lo and behold, there was no line and Sam's Knob had just cracked.
It was still easy to get untracked, you just had to be real careful not to get bogged down.
I was rocking some 115mm Legend Teams that I got off of IRip on the board. Perfect directional charger and I smoked both Matt and Greg, which doesn't happen often anymore. Best $175 I ever spent!
Big Burn opens tomorrow and our lift lines and showing up early, will be a thing of the past.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Looked like they pushed a lot of snow around on Elk Camp too, which if that opens anytime soon (they have an event for opening elk camp restaurant on Friday) that will spread out folks
