Unless they all decide to get along I could see these shows being sub par. More of the experience thing for folks. I never felt like I needed to be at Other Ones or The Dead shows unless it was convenient. This seems different for some reason. Maybe cuz I will be 80 miles from Soldier then anyway.
A streaming couch venue is starting to sound nice tho!
Exactly my worry. I was at Tinley in 90 and that experience was out of hand and then some. The fence climbers the first night overwhelmed the security force, the next 2 nights had troopers on horseback inside the venue and all over the lot busting people for anything that even looked remotely suspicious.Quote:

I definitely agree that with only 3 shows it will be a tall order to get everyone to gel but I'd be surprised if Phil doesn't have a pretty intense rehearsal schedule set up well in advance to try to make it as tight as possible. I just hope the whole runs setlists aren't rehearsed and set in stone ahead of time by Jill:eek:.
Can't do it; my time in that has passed and I'm Grateful for the 10s of shows I got to see. There is nothing like a Dead show.
I wish well for all those that can get the rise from it.

I'm cautiously optimistic for what the sound/scene may end up being. This is one of the only stadium shows I'm interested in at this point Led Zep being the other and that ain't happening. I'm also not convinced that after this sells out there won't be an announcement of Lock'n or some yet to be named festival. However Chicago is guaranteed to be an evening with the band albeit a patchwork quilt of the band we all know and love.
Just saw DSO announced more EC Spring dates, I already know I'll get my fill of well played GD music long before the scene unfolds at Soldier Field. If they weren't good at it no one would go see them.

I think my wife got a 350 a night room. Complete gouging going on. Many will end up getting canceled and then potentially rebooked. I wonder if the rates hold or go up even more. It will be interesting how that plays out. If a bunch of stoners procrastinate and don't cancel until last minute, a bunch of rooms open up at a cheaper rate the day before?
I'd expect rates to go down as cancellations flood in after people get shut out of mail order and on-line ordering.

Yeah, they've come a long way. It used to be so uptight back in the 80's. I know the owners and now that the kids run the operations it has mellowed tremendously. Of course, the craziness of the 60-70's didn't help and most likely why they had to clamp down in 80's into the 90's.Quote:
