el hefe the quest touring soles are available as a replacement part. I have the Quest Pro's and it comes standard with the "vibram" soles (really Salomon's in house stuff Contragrip). The soles were in the parts catalog from last year so they should be available for order.

I can say that when I briefly owned/walked around in my office the original tech 14's, same shell, was surprised how differently they fit than any other Sollie (and at that time I owned Falcon 10's, Ghosts, and Sollie race plugs). Tighter in front, looser in back, seemed like thicker shell than the Falcon, but I have not skied the Impact so cannot say about that comparo. Recall liner little lower in front, as mntlion says. Did not feel like a 100 mm, more like 98. Walk mode was OK, nicer hardware than my previous Factors, but limited range. So I would have returned them even if they hadn't turned out to be deathtraps with crappy buckles.

Now that people are starting to get some days on the boards, anyone have updated info on how the Quest 14's are (or not) working?

Bump. I know some of you have been skiing the Quest 14 as mainly an on-area boot. Is it up to the task? The 130 flex seems to be an overstatement, but can it handle everyday bumps, hard pack carving and crud skiing as well as a full on alpine boot?
The Quest 14 comes stock with a DIN compatible sole and has what (at least in the store) seems to be a pretty sweet progressive flex. I've got full time AT boots for the backcountry, but it would be nice to be able to unlock the cuffs for on-area hiking and just walking in my alpine boots.
Salomon has made significant improvements over the Quest 12, and an occasional broken buckle is not a deal breaker. Is the Q14 a viable choice for an everday area boot?
