Wow, excellent TR, iskibc! Beautiful pics...it's wonderful to see someone getting some in August.
Just wanted to bump this up because I'm jealous. No August turns yet. :(
Be careful in these parts....you may find yourself getting less and less productive...welcome to the board.Quote:

August ain't over yet, MirCat! BTW, where's that kick-ass pic of you on climbing up the Skywalker Couloir? Did a search for it, but couldn't find it. We could use that stoke around here...
Iski- very, very cool. Very nice.
Ok - here's the science nerd in me talking...
That's not a "glacier." That's a snowfield. Glaciers have distinct charactoristics associated with them that I don't see present in the pictures in this thread. There's no geomorphic evidence of movement in the snow, it looks like it's far too shallow of snow to be very permanent.
If anything, it looks like it might be the last remnants of what used to be a cirque-type glacier. The lake looks sort of like it formed by a glacial moraine. I could be wrong, as there's nothing very definitive in those pictures. In any event, what's currently left doesn't appear to be a true glacier.
I wish there was a non-glacier nearby big enough to ski on right now, though... :(
