When the fat lady sings 10-26-2006
Decided to avoid the crowds at Alta today, and head south instead. That meant a 3,300 foot approach to the base of the skiing (old snowfield with new snow) at o'dark thirty. There was only 8-10" of new, but it was fast, light, and dry. And I'm not complaining, it's October.
Powstash and Long Duck Dong, Powdercow on the next switchback below.

We booted in running shoes for a couple grand, then finally got to skin. Feels good to be able to skin again. Powstash enjoying himself on his fav mountain.

And always ahead. Even at ten years old, he still has it in him.

A long walk to get here, but worth it. No need to worry about rocks up here.

Long Duck Dong checking out Provo and Mt. Nebo in the distance.

I didn't take alot of skiing pics, as I'd rather ski than screw up a perfectly good run. But here's Powstash.

The fat lady, schralping the pow on 174cm rando racing skis. Not sure how the old hag keeps afloat on those things.

More pics of that later, from Powstash and the others.
Nice to be on snow again, with nobody around.
