Did they ever report why the first two fell?
All I know is whats in the link, maybe someone else knows stuff
I've heard some brands might be more prone to failure like that chair at whistler
Let’s hope the same company didn’t build Whistler’s Peak to Peak gondola.
Nobody’s surviving that.

I'm certainly no expert but 1.5M doesn't seem like a lot when talking about infrastructure like this, no? And was it in CAD?!
It was perfectly fine when I was there 20 years ago :)

the Quebec gov shut the whole place down
Arson last year (Kimberley), now this. RCR is having a rough go of it lately. Having said that, if this is in any way the result of corner cutting on their part, the shut down is well deservd and hopefully a wake up call to others.
Probably the same kind that Eaglecrest just bought
Is uphill travel allowed?
Only if you want to die.

This is not the first time I've heard shittalking about RCR and their outright refusal to put any $ towards their lifts - either maintenance or new construction. Makes me wary of heading to KH in Jan. If that gondi goes down, we're fucked.
KH is awesome, and I had a great time skiing there, but their gondi seemed like it needed some maintenance. I was there towards the end of last season. They had to manually lock the grip onto the cable at least a couple of times while we were loading or in line - they had a big hook on a long handle for this. I'm assuming the failure mode of the grip is that it is locked, rather than open, so I wasn't super worried about it randomly opening once locked. But not something I'd seen anywhere else.
