Trying to buy a set of used rims for my snow tires (hoping ot avoid a repeat of "that thing", also hoping to avoid remounting fees twice a year).
I'm driving a 2006 4Runner, with 18" wheels, sporting P265/60R18 tires. Someone is selling a set of Toyota factory 18" rims from a 2014 Tundra. Does anyone happen to know with certainty whether htis is the right rim for my vehicle?
In addition to the diameter and width, you'll need to ensure the center bore, bolt pattern and offset are correct for your vehicle.

I bet you can jam those 5 bolt rims onto your 6 bolt hubs no problem. Make sure you lube your brake pads while you have the wheel off.

Go to tire rack and see what's cheap and fits.
Maybe get 16" or 17" rims and tires with a taller profile. Cheaper rims, and cheaper/better tires for snow.
You should be able to find a set of stock 4runner 17" wheels on your local classifieds for $100-200. There are a million tires in 17 available for that thing.
As mentioned, wheel-size.com is a great resource.

One little nugget I've learned re swapping rims over the years is that sometimes they also change the lug nut configuration and even if the bolt circle etc match up the lug nut/bolt seats are the wrong shape, so unless you really know your shit stick with wheels in your year or close to your year. At a minimum they can be hell to balance if you have mismatched nuts and wheels. Btw. 4wd Tacoma rims from that gen have same offset and also fit.

Or just have a set of lug nuts for each set of wheels. Check the size since you may need a different wrench (would be bad to find out the stock wrench doesn't fit after a flat on your winter wheels).
Tip on Tire Rack - if you click on "Winter/Snow Tire & Wheel packages" it'll let you look at downsized rims & tires that fit your car (i.e. 17" when stock is 18").
OT: if anyone in Tahoe or the Bay Area needs some Volvo wheels PM me. I have two sets (16" steelies and 17" cheap aluminum) and no car to put them on.
Yeah, check # of holes and spacing, lug nuts (Toyota/Lexus uses two different type) offset, 17" tires are cheaper but make sure your brake calipers will fit 17s, and looks for craigslist take offs because there are a bunch of truck nutz people that will "upgrade" to murdered out rims and knobby tires and sell the stock stuff cheap.

I already own the tires. And I'm pretty sure they've got two more winters in them, at least. So, I'm not buying 17"ers for winter use, not this year. For 3-season tires, I don't think I want to downsize to 17" rims, although I'd be interested in the collective wisdom. The 4Runner is used for lots of different purposes. The daily commute is not really a factor as it's relatively short and unchallenging. Aside from that, it sees a couple thousand miles per year of dirt roads ranging from good quality (which means graded annually and even get some gravel on occasion), to barely a road. It's also used for towing. A small utility trailer is almost unnoticeable when attached, at least until it gets severely overloaded with a big pile of sand, gravel or topsoil, but I also sometimes tow a 27' Airstream putting the total weight very close or even slightly over the GCWR, and I have no idea whether wheel size would affect towing capacity.
Would be interested in knowledgeable opinions.
