Crested Butte Deals
So I will be heading to Gunnison for 2ish weeks around thanksgiving(18th-30th). CB should be opening shortly after i get there so i was hoping to get a few days in before continuing on to Utah.
Are there any deals on passes available? any advice appreciated.
Also wondering if there will be much riding left in the Gunnison area if i were to bring my bike.
Thanks
edit: would also be interested if something could be found for monarch

Not much of a deal anymore, but there's the 10-day card on their website:

They had the X-Card and the CB Card, but I don't think those are available anymore.

no free skiing this year?
i'm headed down for thanksgiving under the assumption they were doing their early season free skiing deal, but it looks like it'll be way more of a lazy day than expected. the skins will be coming along.
how's monarch early season? more snow i'm sure

There are alot of ski free with lodging deals but i will be staying with a friend for the holidays so it doesnt help me out.
any ideas?

There still is plenty of bike riding left in Gunnison, however that may change in the next few weeks. My advice would be to go to Western's website and keep your eye on all of the webcams. If it doesn't look snowy in town, then Hartman's should be pretty sweet.
I skied Monarch Pass over Halloween in 2-3' of buttery pow, never hit a thing. Sounds like there's more snow coming this weekend.
As far as looking for deals, I say f the resort, just start skinnin...or rent a sled. I only say that b/c its just ridiculous that there is not free skiing (without required lodging) anymore. I'd gladly pump my money somewhere else than CBMR.

plenty of biking left, as long as the snow holds out. Ive been out to hartmans a lot this fall, and everything is still good. I was up at monarch pass yesterday, and all the aspects i was on had a crust or were chopped up crap, but there is plenty of snow around the valley for some backcountry and hopefully we'll be getting some more soon.

thanks guys for the advice on bc and bikes. i appreciate it.
anyone else know how i can snag a couple lift tickets?

Paying any amount of money would be a waste this time of year. Would be a low angle ribbon of man made at best. I guess that could change, but very unlikely.
Head North of town up any drainage and you will find some snow to play in - slate, wash gulch, gothic, should all have something skiable. Skied Owen near Irwin on Friday- plenty of snow, but crusty- that will soon change for sure.
-
Ski Owen from the top? Sled up or drive up?
-
Thanks to everyone that i heard from. Just found out we'll have access to sleds so that should make things easier.
I may check back with pms right before heading down about biking conditions.

SM- Drove to the turnoff to the lodge on the bench. Hiked from there, made for a fairly long approach. Skied Spire Chute just shy of the summit. Poor conditions, but some others had hit it just after the storm and made some nice looking turns.
Looks like snow in our future.
Spartacus- keep those sleds on the road or your trip may end up more expensive than several days of lift tickets

It will be a massive stretch for CB to be open by Thanksgiving at this point. Not looking good at all.
Like you said, lodging deals are about all there is currently.
The Water Wheel Inn has the best I have heard of, Holiday Inn has them extremely discounted.

CB website claims they'll open the day before Tday. Should be a bit more snow this weekend.
Guess well have to wait and see.
