  1. Hi Kai!

How's it going? I hope the gluten info below was of interest.

Are you still thinking of a heli-skiing trip? Are you wondering how we might compare with other operations? Please let me know, we'd love to have you join us.

    Cheers

    Tim
  2. Hey Kai!

    Great to hear from you.

You will be stoked with this news. We have lots of experience with gluten free dining! In fact one of our guests in gluten intolerant and has a blog entitled "Gluten Free Snowboarder"!!! How funny of a coincidence is that! Here's the link: http://www.glutenfreesnowboarder.com/videos/

We have a strict NON-smoking policy at our lodge. ALL of the rooms are non-smoking and nowhere is smoking allowed indoors! If someone wants to smoke, they can go outside.

If you'd like to check out our lodge, we operate it as a hotel in summer and you can see it here: http://heathermountainlodge.com

Please feel free to call me on 1-866-424-4354 or email me on tim@canadianheli-skiing.com I would have replied sooner, but I only just logged into TGR now.

    Cheers,

    Tim
  3. Hey Kai!

Just wondering if you received my message? I had trouble sending it. Please let me know if you have any questions!
  4. PART 4

Down Days - We hardly ever have down days. Last winter we only had 2 half days we couldn't fly.....and the winter before that we had ZERO down days!!

And of course we get huge amounts of dry, light, fluffy snow. I noticed after "stalking" your profile you do some touring, so you probably have heard of Rogers Pass here in BC known for its huge snowfalls......well, we are right next to it! It's only 20mins to the pass from our lodge. So I guess you could come and do some heli and also some awesome touring!

Kai, I hope that helps. In business it pays to know your competitors, so if you are wondering how we may compare to other operations, or if you just want more info about us, please feel free to email me or give me a call.

Whoever you chose to go with, I hope you have a ball!

    Cheers

    Tim

  5. PART 3

Small Groups - And of course you will be with your wife, so you guys make up half the group!! So there's much less pressure on skiing as much as possible. Get 2 friends to join you and you have your own group!

Unlimited Vertical - People who go heli-skiing for a week often ski the guaranteed vertical in 4 or 5 days, then they have to pay extra vertical charges..... but not at Great Canadian Heli-skiing! We offer unlimited vertical and even offer the same amount of guaranteed vertical as other operations (e.g. 100,000ft/week) we do NOT charge for more skiing! Awesome!

Location - we are easy to get to, no extra flights needed. Just fly into Calgary and our shuttle will take you to our lodge (4hrs), conveniently located on the TransCanada Highway, halfway between Revelstoke and Kicking Horse Mountain Resorts. Our helipad is literally out the frontdoor and our closest runs are a 30 second heli flight!!!

  6. PART 2.

Oh before I forgot, your Lotuses look like a SICK ski! I just checked out the DSP website.... perfect for heli-skiing! You are more than welcome to bring them with you and ski on them with us!

A heli op in BC is definitely the best fit for your situation. I'm sure you've read CMH's website. If you went there you'd have a good time no doubt, however we have many advantages over them. In fact we have many ex-CMH heli-skiers skiing with us now as they prefer our format.

Sorry, I know this sounds like the marketing spiel now Kai, but here are some hard facts I'm sure you'd appreciate as you compare operations!

Small Groups - unlike other many other Canadian companies, we have small groups of only 4 people! This enables more skiing, going to terrain not suitable for large groups and it reduces problems associated with different levels of skiers in 1 group.

    more to follow..........
  7. Hi Kai!

Tim from Great Canadian Heli-Skiing here.

I've been a long time "maggot" on here but hardly post....and now have a sweet job to keep me off here

Anyway, I've been following your thread on heli ops and thought I'd send you a message.

As you know, most people on these boards think of themselves as pretty hardcore cliff huckers, hence all the props to the Alaskan heli ops. I've been to Valdez before and it is SICK. HOWEVER, since this is your first experience and you will have your wife with you, I would NOT recommend AK. One operator I know well sent out a newsletter saying how awesome last winter was for "down days" and that they were able to ski about 4 days a week!!! We just laughed at that, as we only had 2 down days ALL SEASON (and ZERO the winter before).

Also with AK, I'm guessing your wife might not be too fond of staying in an RV or crappy hotel in Valdez or Cordova.

Part 1. The message chops off..I'll send the rest in another message....
