Saw your question about the Ross Lake approach to Jack in my SF Jack thread. Would've answered sooner but I was skiing.

The snow level, aside from the crazy deposits below the South Face of Jack, was about 4k on our trip. Probably much higher now. Jack gets quite the rain shadow from the Pickets and all the other cool peaks to the west.
