View Full Version : Hell of the North

Paris-Roubaix hits the cobbles tomorrow (Friday).

Spring classics season is upon us - surely at least one other person here pays attention to this stuff.

Best part of the racing season, I think.

Spectacular and brutal - cobblestone ruts, lines of horizontal sleet blowing in off the North Sea, short fierce dismount-and-runup hills, mud, headwinds, etc. Summer seems so tame in comparison.

Tomorrow’s the big one: The Hell of the North.

Hincapie will be gunning like hell as always. Boonen, Museeuw, et al., will make it hard for him, as if the course isn't enough to deal with already...

I pay enough attention to know that Paris-Roubaix is always held on a sunday.

D'oh! Blame that on last night's murk of Belgian beer.

Plus, I've been kind of forgetful lately, ever since I drank that silver stuff in my thermometer.

Yup, 4 PM EDT, Sunday.

Looks like they'll be showing Fleche Wallone, Liege-Bastogne-Leige, Amstel Gold Race this month, too.

OLN TV schedule here (http://www.olntv.com/showpage.asp?spid=6).
