Check it out: good cause, good food and beer, good people, and good riding.
Ales & Trails Mountain Ride and Barbecue- Saturday June 19, China Camp
A. Rides
The group rides will start at 9:30am. China Camp State Park is the
only
free bike legal singletrack loop in Marin. The trails are buff, and the
climbs moderate. We will have group rides for all levels, from beginner
to
hammerhead. For those who wish to do their own thing, maps will be
available.
B. Food/Drink
The Barbecue, with draft beer provided by Broken Drum Brewery, will
start at
12:30pm. Vegetarian options will be provided.
C. Cost
Both the ride and the food/beer is free of charge for current paid
members
of any of the local mtn. bike advocacy groups listed above (BTCM,
BTCEB,
A4B, NorCAMBA). If your membership is not current, or you are not a
member,
bring cash, check or credit card and join, or renew at the party.
Memberships start at $20. If you join at the $50 level, or above, you
can
bring a guest free of charge. Youth under 14 are free. Note: If you
have
purchased a Tamarancho annual pass you are not a member of any of those
advocacy groups. Money from passes goes to the scouts, not to the
groups
that actually built the trails.
D. Purpose
Mountain biking is a great sport, but it is nothing, if the trails and
fireroads are closed to our use. We need your support to oppose those
who
like to restrict bicycling opportunities in the Bay Area. The
organizations
listed above are responsible for: building and maintaining Tamarancho,
keeping trails open on Mt. Diablo and Joaquin Miller Park, keeping
access to
trails and fireroads on Mt. Tam and Pt. Reyes, and parks in the East
Bay.
Now is your time to help us to continue to help you. Support our work,
and
come to the party. For more information about any of these groups go

E. Directions
The rides and the party will be at Miwok Meadows in China Camp State
Park in
San Rafael. From 101 Freeway, take the North San Pedro Exit (Civic
Center)
going East. Take it for 3.5 miles and make a right turn, on a dirt
road, at
Miwok Meadows sign. Free parking. For more information about China Camp
State Park, including a map of the trails, go to:

F. Woman Riders Encouraged
Woman riders are especially encouraged to come on the group rides and
join
the party.
